I just had a problem with the TeX system installed with RedHat Linux:
The source file ..../fonts/source/public/manual/cmman.mf
is obsolete; thus the correct file ..../fonts/source/public/misc/cmman.mf
isn't seen by METAFONT, and you get error messages.

this isn't the case in the redhat 5.2, 6.0, 6.1 or 6.2beta systems we
have here (we don't have any 6.2-for-real yet, and though we have
older machines registered they're all currently switched off).

presumably this is a problem that someone else has already noticed.

odd. I can't see where they would have got that from, I thought they
used virgin teTeX

If Don would like a fresh-off-the-CD-burner release of
the new TeX Live 5 CD-ROM, please give me a shout and I will post
one. Features include a much bigger set of CJK fonts and support,
organised by Werner Lemberg.
