So, firstly, we have a new EC.
This is the same as the EC for our spiffy new AUSA club: The Parliament Street Pirates. They're functionally equivalent, except that there are formal restrictions on finances and uni student counts, so are legally distinct.
During that initial meeting we came up with some ideas to increase membership / visibility, because that's falling fast.
- Organising on on-campus "fake money" campaign
- Organising a "parliament street rally"
- Organise a fundraiser BBQ in the quad (offered by AUSA)
- Possibly organise a party between then smaller political parties
- Rum tasting and erudite discussion night
- Email policy and newsletter/ facebook event management
- Education of students in politcal process /campus policy / IP yada
- Budget organisation for party costs and long term events
- Information gathering and media activities, advertising
- Legal submissions
- Offer to speak to RSS and abolishing IP! (or anything else a little edgy which would attract attendence to listen?)
- Get Jim Goodman to speak to us (Useful as a pull for CompSci and Soft Eng Students)
- Slip "bookmarks" into books about PPNZ
- Have social meetings (rum/poker/movie nights etctc)
- Ask Student Reps of CompSci papers if they'd like to hold the half funded (by AUSA) class parties, with a pirate party theme..... ;-) We can provide the material for pirate theming. The class/AUSA does the standard food supplies.
- We should put out feelers to heaps of the meetup groups on
meetup.com if they're they geeky kind and ask if we can do a little five minute pitch before their next meeting?
If you have any other suggestions, feel free to send them to me
