Dear all,

First of all I'd like to send all my best wishes for 2012 to our group
and hope we will raise some awareness in Phnom Penh about Linux and Free
Software as well as in Cambodia if possible.

Our website has been down for about 2 months and I'd like to inform the
group that it is now back online with a new look and a new spam blocking
plug in which hopefully will prevent all the garbage we got in the forum
at times.

I'm not sure how often and if even meetings are happening. I'd
appreciate someone in the know to let me know so I can update the site
accordingly. I have kept the last information for now which is: weekly
on Tuesday at 6pm at the PP Hackerspace.

Please don't hesitate to log in (accounts have been kept) and make a
post to show the world we are still around! ;-)

I'll be working on fixing the planet which has also died without notice
(not Earth, the planetplanet software, Earth is scheduled to die a
little later this year though :D).

If you do blog please do send me your RSS feed so I can add it to the
planet as well (I'll have to update the look & feel too).

Last but not least, if you prefer a difference photo than the National
Museum to represent Phnom Penh just let me know (send me one of yours
eventually) and I ll do the switch.

Anyone interested to help maintain the website or write short articles
on the frontpage can also contact me to have better rights to do so.

Thanks.

Fred

Happy New Year to you too, and the rest of the group! I've been
lurking this group for a while. Now that I've helped a second
Cambodian friend to re-fit an older computer with Ubuntu, I figured
I'd chime in and join the actual pplug site. (btw, the first couple I
helped have a travel agent kiosk on the riverside; they love Ubuntu
over their slowed-down WinXP, and have said quite a few Cambodians are
asking them about it.)

I just tried to create a forum account there -- it dead-ended on the
page after completing the registration form. I tried a few times in
case i mistyped the password on second entry; no dice. Also tried to
retrieve a forgotten password, in case it did take, but again, after
typing in my email address, it served a blank page.

Any help is appreciated, and nice to "meet" you here.

Cheers,
Rick

Thanks for the feedback. Apparently the captcha extension was at fault
(and there was also some problem with the database structure which must
have happened during the upgrade). Well all should be fixed now. I
registered a test account without any problem and hopefully the site is
finally bug free.

I'd be curious to know whether there are still weekly meetings at the
hackerspace as well and if those are still on Tuesday or Saturdays (I
think I read it was Saturdays somewhere). If someone could tell me I
could update the message on our site as well.

Thanks.

Hey!

Thanks a lot for the confirmation. I just needed to be sure the site
content was matching reality.

As a side note I didn't find much information on the hackerspacepp.org
website related to date/time/frequency. The only info would be on this page:
http://www.hackerspacepp.org/blog/free-for-meetups/

while the Event page is not written yet:
http://www.hackerspacepp.org/blog/events/
or 404: http://www.hackerspacepp.org/events/

We're in the process of moving the HackerspacePP site actually! This weekend I'll finish it off so that the home page contains all the info we need with links to the blog and a (completed) events page! Stay tuned!
