Hi Everyone,

I'm traveling to Phnom Penh this June and looking for any sort of tech events or meetups to get involved in.

Would be interested in joining in on this group and any other event friendly to people that only speak English.

Hi!

As you can see from the response speed we're not really active, just in
sleep mode. As written on the website we've stopped meeting due to venue
issue and probably lack of (enough) people interested to introduce stuff.

Some of us are still active GNU/Linux users and always interested to
meet up. We don't necessarily need to have a presentation, we can just
hang out at a nice place when you come in if you're interested. I know
I'll come :-)

Are visiting for holidays or work, and how long will you stay?

Thanks a lot for reaching out.

Fred

Just now in the bus returning to Kep. Maybe back in PP in a week or so , for one or two days. I would join hanging out for a beer at dinner time - where and when? Norbert

Hi Frederick,

Nice to meet you,

Looking for a web dev internship, actually have an interview in 30 mins. Other than that just enjoying my stay.

Let's set something up around June 13th when I arrive.

Hi Fred,

if you set up something, please let me know the date as soon as possible. I may or may not be in Phnom Penh at the time, or might be able to adjust my schedule.

Still always interested in things Linux.

Hi!

Well, likewise I'm quite available but I'll know my friends will call me
to go out as well.

I'd say sometimes over the weekend could be nice but people might
already have things planned.

Else we can do something on Tuesday evening if people are more available
for that.

Norbert, are you coming to town anytime soon?

Thanks

If I would go to Phnom Penh again in the near future, I will say so on this list.

Hi!

Unfortunately I'm having a birthday celebration on Tuesday, can we make
it on Wednesday?

Now I was wondering where to go. Any suggestion from the group?

Thanks.

Wednesday sounds good to me,

We could use my apartment, off 108st and Norodom, 5 minute walk from central market and Wat Phnom.

Haha not sure if those are good directions, still getting used to navigating the city.

Hey!

Thanks for the offer but we're not going to go to your place especially
since I have no idea how many people will show up.

What kind of place are you into? Riverside style or more "locals only"
style?

Dear Ryan,

Sorry work is hitting me hard and won't be available today. Let me think

Hi!

So what about Tuesday evening at the box office, street 244? This is a
small little bar run by a nice British guy not far from Wat Botum/the
Royal Palace.

I'm open for the time to meet, 6pm or whatever works for you.

Thank you.

Well I am still at the Box Office but it seems we might want to
reschedule :-)

Just let me know what works for you.

Thanks.

Hi Fred,

So sorry for missing this! I didn't see this in my inbox.

I'm available any night to meet and I'll keep a closer eye on my inbox.

Shall we say this Friday same place?

Hi!

No problem. Let me check if there is no event planned for Friday over
there (I think not) as it gets very crowded then.

Any preferred time?

Hi,

How does 6pm sound?

We could do another night, or pick another spot if it's too crowded on Fridays.

Hi again!

So nothing planned for Friday night so we should be cool. I'll have
another friend joining who would like Linux to run on his rather recent
Macbook Air (I think a 7,1 model - about 1 year old). It didn't work
last year but I've read the SSD drivers are now in the latest kernel.

He is also into cryptocurrency, blockchains and all that would like to
learn more. We tried Bitkey but that doesn't run on his Mac and
currently only supports bitcoins wallets. Next release should come with
a multicultural wallet and hopefully a more recent kernel support his
hardware.

Anyway, that's the plan. So see you and whoever is interested this
Friday at 6pm at the Box Office on street 244.

Thank you.

Hi,

It's time to say something now. What keeps this LUG down is exactly
this. There enough co-working spaces, hubs and so on, who would host us.
But the problem some think more and eat and drink instead of that what a
LUG meeting was thought once for, a get together to share knowledge
about Linux and FOSS.

Hey!

Nobody is preventing you from taking the group UP again and running your
own meetings (under the group's name and resources) in your chosen
co-working space.

In the meantime don't blame others for doing something sometimes, even
if that's not your thing.

Thank you.
