Hello everyone,

We are thrilled to announce a joint PPIG + VL/HCC 2024 meeting to be held at the University of Liverpool, UK. Please mark your calendars for this exciting gathering of minds, scheduled from Monday, 2nd Sept – Friday, 6th Sept 2024.

The IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing (VL/HCC) is a forum that brings together experts, academics, and practitioners to exchange cutting-edge ideas and explore the latest developments in visual languages and human-centric computing. The special emphasis for this year will be VL/HCC and Generative AI - critiques and opportunities, positive, negative and unclear impacts are all welcome.

The Psychology of Programming Interest Group (PPIG) seeks to bring together people from diverse communities to explore common interests in the psychological aspects of programming and in the computational aspects of psychology. PPIG is particularly inviting reflections this year on human agency with notations in the broadest sense, whether they’re programming languages, ML/AI models, GenAI systems, or any other kind.

The joint event is thus a special opportunity to discuss your research and engage with the many communities of people interested in programming, people, visual languages, and human-centric computing. Participation at both events is highly encouraged and will be facilitated. For further details, including submission guidelines, topics of interest, and additional information, please visit the PPIG 2024 website: https://ppig.org/workshops/2024-annual-workshop/ and the VL/HCC 2024 website: https://conf.researchr.org/track/vlhcc-2024/vlhcc-2024-research-papers
