Subject: FIG events on local SDI - Call for papers
To: trias...@ugm.ac.id

Dear Trias,

we met last year in Vienna at the Symposium on Location Based
Services. Maybe you remember. You gave a presentation about a VGI
system for disaster management also make use of local spatial data
infrastructures (if I remember correctly). I think this topic is very
interesting and your presentation was very clear.

The FIG Commission 3 (http://www.fig.net/commission3/index.htm) is
going to organize a special issue “Local Spatial Data Infrastructures
(local SDI)” for the next events:

'FIG Commission 3 will organize a special technical session on Local
Spatial Data Infrastructures. The aim of the special session is to
bring together practitioners and researchers from all over the world
working on Spatial Data Infrastructures at the sub-national level.
Topics of submitted papers should focus on both theoretical and
application aspects. Contributions may range from in depth theoretical
considerations to best practice case studies addressing spatial data
sources (aerial images, optical and radar sattelite imagery, laser and
ortical scanners, maps, video, VGI, etc) and data management including
metadata, access network, and delivery of data-related services,
political and institutional arrangements, standards and people.
Applications in disaster and resource management, land administration,
property markets and cadastre, sustainable development, planning and
statistics, social and transportation planning, cultural heritage
management, climate change adaptation / mitigation and others are
welcome to illustrate the involvement of stakeholders from the local
level of government as well as the private sector and academia.'

The first event is the annual commission Workshop
(https://sites.google.com/site/figcom3athens2012/), this time held in
Athens (Greece) from 10th to 14th December 2012. The second event is
the Regional Conference in Montevideo (Uruguay) to be held from 26th
to 29th November 2012 (see attached invitation).

We would be very happy if you prepare a paper for one of the events. I
think it would fit perfectly the special issue.

Please feel free forwarding this mail to colleagues also working in
the area of local SDI.

Kind regards,

Joerg Blankenbach
