I recently installed Power Tab Version 1.7 Build 80 on to my laptop running Microsoft XP Professional from a guitar tuiton CD. When I run Power Tab files there is no sound, even though I can see it running as the notation changes from black to red and back again. The CD also has video and MP3 files. These open and play fine in Real Player with full sound, so it appears this is not a problem with computer itself. Any suggestions on how to rectify this. I've search for 'mute' buttons that might be selected, but no good. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software but again nothing.

Robert.

Go to the beginning of the score.  Check the "Guitar In" (Gtr. In button).  If nothing is selected, check an appropriate box for the guitar you want to be played.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip, David K, but I tried that and it still didn't
produce any sound. Any other suggestions anybody?

Robert.

Did you try setting up your MIDI preferences?

Thanks guys, I've nailed the problem. Using the Microsoft
Troubleshooter application I was directed to the Device Driver and
there found that a 'Mute' option was selected for the Midi driver. I
deselected it and Power Tab is working fine now. Don't know how it
happened as I'm sure I didn't select it. Anyway, hope that's a bit of
useful information for the future. Robert.
