Hi everyone,

We will be holding a HPC PowerStack and Variorum  Tutorial next week, on February 6 at from 8:00 to 11:15am Pacific time. This is part of the ECP Tutorial series for 2023, and is free to attend, but registration is required. Feel free to share the details of this email with your colleagues who may be interested.

Attendees of our tutorial will learn about power management in HPC, and everything necessary to start using Variorum on various architectures to write portable, vendor-neutral power management code. Attendees will also learn about how Variorum fits in the HPC PowerStack, and its integrations with other system software including resource managers and telemetry. No prior experience in power management is necessary.

The details for registration for ECP Tutorials can be found here: https://www.exascaleproject.org/event/ecp-tutorial-days/

Variorum is a production-grade, open-source, vendor-neutral software infrastructure for exposing low-level control and monitoring of a system’s underlying hardware features. This Variorum Tutorial will consist of two modules, each of 1.5 hours each.

  • Module 1
    • Focusing on supporting vendor-neutrality, building and utilizing Variorum, and low-level power knobs for supported architectures (AMD, Intel, IBM, ARM, NVIDIA, Intel and AMD GPUs)
    • Monday, Feb 6 2023, 8:00am-9:30am PT (11:00am-12:30pm ET)
  • Module 2
    • Focusing on Variorum integrations (with LDMS, GEOPM/NRM, Flux, Kokkos, Caliper)
    • Monday, Feb 6 2023, 9:45am-11:15am PT (12:45pm-2:15pm ET)

Sincerely,

Tapasya Patki, Stephanie Brink, Aniruddha Marathe and Barry Rountree.
