Bulk printing on Dot Matrix Printer in DOS Mode with PowerBuilder ?

Hi Friend:

I m facing practical problem with PB, It is not a problem but How to
implement this kind of thing in PB. Well, everybody know that DOS mode printing was very fast comprative to Windows ( I'm talking about Dot Matrix Printers only in simple draft mode when you give command like type <filename.prn> > prn.) and that was very easy and cheaper for bulk printing say 100,000 copies of a single document say Debenture warrant or certificate say for example. So, how to do this kind of work with PB.

Note: I'd tried with Generic Text driver for Microsoft Windows, but some objects say rectangle and also fonts are not appears in such a manner.

Output comes fine with Inkjet or Laser printer.

PS.: I dont want to use Bitmap or any other graphics in printing, there are just columns (contains data), text, and rectangles without any color also.

Thanks in advance for your valuable help.

Hi,

I used to do the same thing. I used the Generic text only driver. You need to set your printer to this driver before creating your datawindow. You should see 3 print settings for Courier I believe, they are for 3 different settings (like 10cpi, 12 cpi). Use these to create your print output. Used the rulers to align your printout for either 6 or 8 lines per inch. You will have to setup print initialization commands in the text driver for each machine it will be used on. Get them from the printers manual.
