I recently took the Fast Track to PowerBuilder 7.0 at the Sybase Education
Center in Bethesda, MD. The class was taught by Andy Smith, a very
knowledgable lady who used to be a PowerSoft developer.

I asked her about adding enumerated data types to the available icons for
message boxes. Unfortunately, she told me, I am unable to add any new
icons. So, I asked her if she could pass a request for a new one to the
powers that be. She told me that I would probably get a better response
than she if I posted a message here. SO here goes...

I am supporting a PowerBuilder 6.5 application that was developed for my
company by a third party. Whenever a save is successful, the big red X
icon is used in the message box to announce success. This has been
confusing to our users. No other available enumerated data type icon
really conveys the concept of a successful operation.

For that reason, I would like a happy face (or smiley face, as it's known
in some regions) added to the list of available enumerated data types for
message boxes. Can anyone forward my request for consideration? Thanks
very much.

Isn't the default information! icon sufficient? This is the standard Windows
convention for relaying non-error information, e.g.,

MessageBox( title, body ) // uses default information! icon
MessageBox( title, body, information! ) // explicit
