I am trying to determine if it makes sense to try to port this application
to the Web using PowerBuilder and Jaguar - or rewrite it with PowerJ
(keeping the datawindows) - or just punt and go ths ASP route.
Some of my friends who have attempted something similar with PB and Jaguar
have said that the experience was horrible. They mentioned a lot of
tedium - like having to endlessly restart the server to get changes in
effect. Their recommendation was to go to a new tool designed to build web
applications.
Can anyone with actual experience with this effort give me their honest
account and their recommendation as to which way is best to go.
Is anything in PB 8 going to be a serious help with this effort?

Is there a requirement to generate a web version of the app, or just to get
it available through the web. For 'mature' PB apps, I'm more in favor of
using something like the WDK to 'web-enable' them. Write your new stuff in
PB/EAServer, but for stable existing apps I'm not sure it's worth the effort
to do a ful rewrite.
