Hello All,

I'm using PB 7.0.3.
When I'm running the application, it's crashed... can someone help?

Thanks

Could you provide more information. In itself a core dump, like the one
listed, would be difficult to trap. If you could provide a bit more
information about what the application is trying to use/do at the time some
help may be available.

I assume this is a compiled (with PBD or DLL) executable, all I can suggest
is that some "trace" logging is inserted to let you find out what the
application last successfully did.

[One downside is that sometimes this causes PB to reorganise the way it
works and some problems have been known to just disappear.]

Cheers, Paul

Gulp! Dr.Watson!
What was you doing (Select/Update/Datawindow/Datastore)
ORACLE/SYBASE/MSSQL/????

I am not sure if anyone can other than you/the programmer who wrote
the code?

Sorry if this does not help but I do understand what you are going through,
as I
have something like your error but with PBVM....
Regards
Ken

Run a PBDEBUG trace (see the manual for details). This will tell you
what the last line executed was.

Also, check for detail bands of height less than 2 (most likely zero).
If this is the cause, you'll have to move back to either C4 or
previous, or post-C5. The only post-C5 builds are just development
builds, which aren't supposed to be for the general public, and each
one I've looked at have had a new issue. The safest route would be to
move back to C4 (or C3 if you're using ODBC; C4 had an issue with the
return code for failed ODBC connections).

Good luck,

We had that problem with build 10047. We ended up using the pbdwe70.dll
from build 10009 to fix the problem. Now we are using build 10059 and have
not as yet encountered that problem again.

Thanks for that.

This was an issue for those Wheely Mouse thingys!! :-)
I reported that one about 3 years ago!! :-)

The problem described appeared somewhere between C4 and 7.0.3, and
wasn't resolved by the time C5 came out. (It's been fixed post-C5, but
those builds, at least the ones I've seen, have had issues of their
own, so I wouldn't recommend them carte blanche. Notably, relative to
another thread regarding the quality that Sybase is putting out,
Sybase is the one catching and reporting these problems before they
are made available to people who "absolutely" have to have this fix no
matter what. I don't recall seeing much of that in previous years; it
was usually end users that caught those things.) I doubt it's the same
issue. AFAIK, there's no dependency on "Wheely Mouse thingys",
although my cats would love to get their paws on one of those. They
are very open minded and don't discriminate against physically
challenged mice!

Good luck,

Check the validity of the filter expression. Try changing it to
something simple (like "1=1") to see if it still crashes.

OK, try substituting a very simple datawindow (say one column grid)
and see if the results persist.

Also, get HandleEx or ListDLLs from http://www.sysinternals.com and
make sure the DLLs that PowerBuilder is loading all come from the
correct location / same version.

I'm stumped. I can't find any other cases like this. (Actually, I
found one that was solved by 7.0.3, which doesn't help you.) The only
thing I can think of is that there's some sort of corruption in the
datawindow. I'd try regenerating and then recreating the datawindow in
a new, empty PBL. If you've got PowerGen, I'd go whole hog and export
everything, delete all your PBLs (after backup, of course <g>) and do
a bootstrap import.

Good luck,
