Hi guys,

Anyone know of any examples or suggestions on how to implement a
stopwatch feature? Ultimately I want a visual countdown from 20 seconds
to 0 which can be stopped by the user at (say) 12.5 seconds and restart
with 7.5 remaining. Can't see it can be handled by Timer functionality.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

The implementation depends on the precision you want.

You can implement a stopwatch without writing a single line of code by using
a datawindow.
But I think that's only good enough at the seconds level. Not for
milliseconds.

Hi

Of course you can use the timer for this. Only thing is that you must keep
track your self of the time to go. Use a timer for say 0.1 seconds. In the
timer event, check if the 'stop' button is pressed and if so, save the
remaining time. If it is not pressed, check if the remaining time reaches 0
and if so, stop the timer.

Duh. Yeh thanks Eric - hadn't thought it through.

Paul,
I did something similar before, and to be honest, PB, and the 'kinda
pre-emptive' nature of Windows did not offer the precision necessary to
support sub-second recording of data.

Take Care
