Hi, we are running PowerBuilder 6.5 Build 444 on WindowsNT 4.0 with 1GB memory.
I have a base datawindow with 3 nested datawindows, two graph objects and few
columns (about 50 columns). It will be ok if I retrieve about 4000 base rows and
all nested rows(the print spool file would be around 350MB). But if I try to
retrieve about 7000 rows, it retrieves all 7000 base rows and after retrieving
few thousand nested rows I am getting ‘datawindow error, out of
memory’ error. When I check system memory at that point it still says
700MB free. Could somebody please tell me what the problem would be? Is there
any limit in PB. Thanks in advance.

As I know, usually a message like "out of memory:" means that your RAM can
not hold too much information. I recommend you to delete your temp files (
extension like *.$$$, *.tmp, *.bak and other extensions you know well and
you are sure ). Purge this files, and then try once again. This would help
inoproving your performance. Keep us informed about it, please.

Good Luck,

Look at your swapfile (virtual Memory) size. You may have to increase that
size. I believe the standard recommendation is 1.5 times the size of actual
RAM.

Guys,

You are wasting your time. It's not a datawindow limitation or a problem
with your memory configuration -- it's a known powerbuilder bug, which was
introduced in PB 6.
They claimed that they have fixed it, and yes, it became better now, but
it's still not really fixed. There is an ebf # 1219 for PB 6.5.1, which is
NOT on the sybase download page; and the same fix is repeated in the latest
PB 7.03, but it still shows "out of memory" for crosstab reports.
