Has anyone else exprienced crosstab datawindows
crashing in PB6.5 that worked in version 5.0?
I have a crosstab datawindow that ONLY crashes
on NT when I requery and the number of columns
requires a horizontal scroll bar. IT happens
both on the executable and in development.
Is there an EBF out on this? I seem to recall
someone telling me this problem MAY have been
fixed in a later release (I have build 444 of
PB 6.5).
Any help would be appreciated,
David L.

I too have a cross tab which crashes on me. I'm busy migrating from 4.0.06 to
6.5(444).
In 6.5 the dw shows an empty line when I open the window, before ANY retrieval.
This does NOT happen in the PB4 version.
When I retrieve data I don't get to the RetrieveEnd!. I get a GPF in PBVM60.DLL
on 0137:10b9707d.
I'm working on it but any hints/tips are welcome.

Here is the exact message from the GPF I receive:
The instruction at "0x1154cc2a" referenced memory at "0x03dc00fc". The
memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the Application
Click on CANCEL to debug the Application
When I click on OK, obviously, PB crashes out.
When I click on CANCEL, I get the following message from Dr. Watson
"An application error has occurred and an application error log is being
generated."
PB60.exe
"Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x1154cc2a"
------------------------------------------------
As I mentioned in my previous post, this ONLY occurs on NT and only occurs
when I requery a crostab datawindow that has enough columns to require a
horizontal scroll bar. When I try my program (or exe) on a Windows95 box it
runs fine.
Any input would be appreciated,
David L.
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I found a few problems like the
one you are experiencing. Both are bugs and I don't if they are fixed. I can
give you a recent patch for you to test with but first try these:
1. Someone else experienced an error on retrieve/display because a text
object contained a tab character( ~t). Do any of your computed columns
contain a tab character? Try removing it and see what happens.
2. another person had a corrupted pbl or dw object. The solution was to
remigrate that one object. Try getting your PB5 version of that object and
import it into a pb6 test pbl.
Are you using PB6.5?

I suggest you try the latest PB patches and/or contact Sybase tech support.
I gave you the latest build available so its not possible for you to have
anything later. Sybase just posted that new patch internally yesterday.
Unfortunately, there is nothing else I can do for you. Because this appears
to be a real bug you'll have to talk with Sybase tech support and see if
they can provide you with a solution.
Does your crosstab ever gpf when there is no horizontal scrollbar? What
happens if you turn off the hscroll property? I don't have a solution. I'm
just curious.
