Hi everyone,

I'm contemplating writing an app that collates historic and current
unit prices to show graphs of power prices over time - and comparing
hedging options with current options. Eventually I'd like to have it
attempt to predict the 'best' option for purchase (with the usual
disclaimers). I was wondering if anyone had started this yet - or had
any hints/tips of where to start?

(I've got a Ph.D. in Computer Science so the prediction engine is
quite interesting :)

Cool. First you have to get Powershop to release their historic prices
first... Or do you already have the historical data stored?

That can be collected over time.

I've got all the prices I've seen for the last year recorded, for both
things I've bought and things I didn't buy, at least for the "standard
power" stuff .. standard, weekly special, June800 and similar,
winter/spring/summer/autumn packs when available.

Remember there's different pricing for different areas, and I also
think the pricing is dependent on day/night usage for customers with
multiple meters, etc.

Essentially, it's going to be difficult to get historic prices
relevant for a particular property unless you're history data is from
that property's prices.
