From my experience most of the issues when setting up CAT control are related to the 2 separate sections in the setup labeled CAT control. Only attempt to use the CAT section under the PowerSDRIF setup Tab. Turn the CAT control under the General tab off. This should fix 90% of the CAT issues.

I made this post earlier from work not looking at the menus in the program. Let me clarify a little. Do not enable CAT or PTT under the Setup->Cat control tab. Do it under the SetupIF-> Rig Connection tab.  The Setup->CAT control is a holdover of the old PowerSDR software before it was modified for IF usage.

This was the key piece of information for me to get PowerSDR/IF to work with my Kenwood TS-850. Having programmed the USB-RS232 interface & having it work with Ham Radio Deluxe but not PowerSDR/IF was perplexing.

It would be helpful if this information was included in the PowerSDR/IF manual.

Do not enable CAT or PTT under the Setup->Cat control tab. Do it under the SetupIF-> Rig Connection tab.  The Setup-CAT control is a holdover of the old PowerSDR software before it was modified for IF usage.

Many thanks to Marty N5KBP for pointing this out.

I am all for improving the documentation, but if you walk through the instructions, it shows you how to setup CAT for the SDR rig on the Seup-IF menu. I can't recommend disabling CAT as you say, because that function works fine for what its supposed to be for, i.e. hooking a logging programming to PowerSDR.    Yes, "CAT" is certainly an overloaded term here, but that is why we moved all the IF Stage specific stuff to its very own menu. -Scott

I have enabled Cat under SetupIF  no changes to any other Cat set up. I am still getting,
Unable to connect to the Yaesu on Com3. Please make sure it is connected and turned on.
The Com3 is on and works fine with other programmes. Devise manager tells me that it is working with no issues, drivers are up to date.
I am using a serial port with original Yaesu FIF-232C Cat system.
Is there anyone using an FT1000D succesfully with PowerSDR/IF.

I don't know the history of the Yaesu CAT commands that well - we programmed PowerSDR/IF against the FT-2000 CAT Commands. Perhaps the FT-1000 uses something different? That might cause it not to work.

In your logging programs you should see if you can select a radio type of FT-2000 and use it to connect to your FT-1000.  If it doesn't work, there is just a chance the CAT Command set isn't compatible.

You are absolutely right Scott.
The other programmes do not work on the FT1000D under radio type FT2000.
The settings for FT1000D are Baud rate 4800,  Parity none, Data bits 8, Stop bits 2. DTR always off. RTS always on.
Thanks for the help and if PowerSDR/IF is ever programmed for the FT1000 or FT1000D please let it be known.
