I have the latest version of PowerSDR/IF running using a SoftRock 40 at the IF of my TS-850S, and am able to receive demodulated audio through the on board sound card on my PC.
I have a FT232R USB to serial breakout board connected from the PC to my TS-850S. Using two different versions of Ham Radio Deluxe, I can control the rig through the USB-serial interface.

The problem: I can't control the rig through PowerSDR/IF. I've gone through the setup routine without successful results. I've read through the documentation for both PowerSDR/IF & PowerSDR but haven't found any info regarding what steps to take if the CAT control doesn't work.
Any constructive input is welcomed.

Does PowerSDR/IF stage track the rig?  You just said you can't control the rig through PowerSDR/IF. -Scott, WU2X

Hi Scott,
At the time, no it didn't, since there were no serial communications happening between PowerSDR/IF & the rig. Another ham on the list who had a similar arrangement as mine was able to help me configure PowerSDR/IF to get it to work, so now PowerSDR/IF tracks the rig.
It's been a few weeks since I made that post & solved the problem. I'll go back to refresh my memory on what was needed and post the results to the list. Maybe you'll add the findings to the instructions for configuring the software to help clarify for future users.

Here you go.Hardware control is set as SDR-1000 and nothing is checked under CAT control. The CAT stuff is set under the Setup IF tab. It's confusing but the stuff under the general tab is apparently legacy from the old Powersdr code that was added to to do the IF version.
Hope this helps. Give me a shout if you need any more help.

Thank you so very much, Marty. That got it going! I now have control of the rig through PowerSDR/IF.
Now to get a decent sound card going with it, and try to eliminate the hump in the middle of the display.

Actually, the CAT tab is used to set up a virtual port to allow PowerSDR to appear as a rig for external control by a logging or other program. This was necessary because PowerSDR was the rig.
