Hi all. I am a complete newbie for this discussion.

I understand that I can take the 8mhz output from my TS850, connect it to an 8Mhz  softrock type tuner, and feed it to the souncard, with the Power SDR software. I  have a Creative SB Audigy 2 sound card. Is this all the setup I need ?
Will I have full tuning control on the software ?

You will also want to connect your computer to the CAT port on the TS850 (I assume the TS850 has a CAT port as most modern rigs do) in order to provide rig control for the TA850.  Otherwise you will have to manually control the TS850 and Power SDR software will still work but you will not have the radio frequency of the TS850 displayed.

It will work great. I am using an 850 with the softrock on the if out with a emu 0202 usb sound interface. The software will control the 850 using the cat control on the rig. You will need a cat interface cable. Available on ebay for less than 25 bucks or roll your own. There are many plans on the net. The hardest part is calibrating the mode specific if offset which can be a PIA until you get the hang of it. You might also look at NAP3 which is another software package based on the powersdr code.

One caution about this.  I did a bit of online reading about the TS850.  Its connection is at the TTL level of 5 volts.  A standard serial port RS-232 connection from a computer is 12 volts which may damage the TS850 unless you have a voltage converter.  Kenwood made an IF-232C interface for this purpose.  You may want to purchase an IF-232C or make a substitute.  Marty in the previous post can probably guide you on this and Marty is definitely right about NaP3 – I prefer it over Powersdr-IF for use with the Elecraft K3.

Can anyone supply links to the downloads for the Powersdr-IF-stage and/or the NaP3 software.

I would like to use it with my Kenwood TS-2000.
I already have the IF out mod installed on the TS-2000.

Thanks,
John

OBTW:

I also have an assortment of Softrock receivers (that I built a while back) that I plan on using with the PowerSdr-IF or NaP3 software.

The sound card will be an E-MU 0404.

If you have a serial port on your computer this is about as simple as it gets. I have built a few of these over the years and they work FB for all 440,450,850's etc. I'm using one now with my 850.
