Hello to the group,
I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the issue(s) I'm having.
I had PowerSDR/IF working with my SoftRockLite 6.2 as an IF panadaptor at 8.83MHz. from my Kenwood TS-850 & the sound card built into my Asus M2A-VM motherboard running Windows 7 SP1.
I installed an M-Audio AP192k sound card in order to gain the advantage of 192khz sampling. After the installation of the AP192k, PowerSDR/IF no longer loads. During the start up of PowerSRD/IF, I get the error shown in this screen shot.
Help, please..

You can't always change sound cards without changing the database files that point to it. The database.xml file is in your AppData\PowerSDR folder. Find the file and delete it so that PowerSDR can create a fresh one with default settings.

BTW, the Ap192 works at 192kHz, but is too noisy to be of use much above 96kHz, and it has compression built in that can't be turned off. That's why it's not on our recommended list.

Thanks Larry.
I did as you suggested to no avail. I found the database.xml file, but I don't seem to have an AppData/PowerSDR folder. I deleted the file & reinstalled the PowerSDR IF software after installing the M-Audio AP192 software. PowerSDR/IF threw the same error code upon the first execution. This was after another effort to get PowerSDR/IF to work with the original on-motherboard sound card, which also failed.
Any other suggestions?

Sound card table...
http://www.telepostinc.com/soundcards.html#Table

The one you found is the default one which is installed in the program folder when the program is installed. Once you change the settings, a new copy with the changes is written to the one in the AppData folder. You can save a backup on your desktop for safety. There are buttons in Setup to manage the backups.

AppData\PowerSDRIF\ is found in your User folder. For instance, if your username is Robin, it would be in

C:\Users\Robin\AppData\Roaming\PowerSDR IF-Stage v1.19.3\

Hi Larry,
I've removed and re-installed PowerSDRIF, and I get the same error as I listed before. I'm attaching a screen shot of my C:\Users\Robin\ folder...there's no AppData folder.
Searching the C:\ drive for "AppData" yields no results. Running Win7 SP1 here.
Suggestions?
No AppData Folder.doc

Hi Robin
It is normally a hidden folder go to Control Panel click Folder Options click View then click Show hidden files and folders then click apply.

You should see it now in C:\Users\Robin

It may be set to "hidden". Uninstalling and reinstalling won't affect user data. Give me a call some evening and I'll walk you through navigating to the folder.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the responses. I didn't realize I had left the folders hidden; normally I uncheck that box so I can see all the contents of every directory in the hard disk.
I found the file, made the changes & got the software running again, thanks to all of you. Now I'm on to installing a better sound card in the effort to get 92khz. sampling...more reading to do.

Hi Robin:

I have a Creative Labs E-MU 0202 USB soundcard here that I am not using.  I have all of the installation software, but I think there is updated drivers on their website. Let me know if you are interested, I don't even know what they go for used.  It was working fine when I removed it from service earlier this year, as I have a newer radio and have not played with SDR since getting it. It will do the 192khz. Take a look at the reviews on it and see what you think.  Perhaps some other group members can advise on it.

Bob

Robin,

The AppData folder is a "hidden" folder. There is a way to make it visible, see:

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/show-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-vista/

This is a maddening 'feature" of Windows!

Good luck,

Bob,

If Robin does not purchase your sound card, I'll offer you $60 plus shipping for it. It is a good sound card.

Thanks,

Have you checked your system configuration to verify that the new soundcard is in fact working? (independent of powersdr).

Hi Bill:

Thanks for the offer.  If I do not see anything more from him, it's yours.  It worked well for me.  I do not need to run a band display at this point as it is built into the digital softwares I use for PSK and the JT modes.

Do you have a PayPal account?
