powerline printing 'common' [\n] 'common' instead of path

Powerline doesn't print all the things it should
Instead it prints :
'common'
'common'
(see image)

it was installed with
pip3 install powerline-status

it is located at
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.6/bin/powerline


my .bash_profile includes
powerline-daemon -q
POWERLINE_BASH_CONTINUATION=1
POWERLINE_BASH_SELECT=1

. /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.6/lib/python3.6/site-packages/powerline/bindings/bash/powerline.sh

System Specs
osX el capitan 10.11.6
iTerm2 3.1.5
python 3.1.6

What is the configuration and what does `powerline-lint` report?

And also kill the daemon and either run it in foreground instead, make
it log errors somewhere (there is a configuration for that) or check
without daemon at all to get actual error message.

powerline-lint reports nothing
after running
powerline-daemon -k
powerline-daemon -r

it works as intended, problem solved!
