Just uploaded a new version of dbwrap. If you've upgraded to v0.2.5 (Jesse McDonnell, this means you especially), please upgrade to v0.2.6:

sudo easy_install -U dbwrap

This should fix the "TypeError: an integer is required" problems.

Installed it on my test netbook install and it's looking good. I'll confirm with the library install this evening. Thanks, Jesse!

Following up and confirming that Powerline is working fine on the library server. Thanks again!

I didn't have enough time last evening to get a successful login from a patron computer with the prebook winclient installed. The prebook login launches but login fails with the error message "cannot execute xml-rpc method:pcres authenticate server etc"  I suspect this is a firewall issue but I didn't have time to look into it - all traffic from the clients passes through an IPCOP/Dansguardian proxy filter/firewall.

(A heads up to anyone installing the prebook client:  We're running ident on the patron computers to allow filtered or unfiltered insternet access based on user login and prebook client won't install fully on a computer running an ident daemon, it appears to install, the autologin sorta works but it doesn't launch the preclient login screen.)

Poweline is running fine and we're piloting it on a single computer while patrons who don't have one sign up for a library card - I've been meaning to update this thread for a few days.

Dansguardian listens on port 8080 the same port Powerline listens on out of the box. Solution - change the Powerline port in powerline.conf  and open up the port on the server using ufw, a good tool for manipulating the firewall rules in Ubuntu. Also, the installation instructions that come with the prebook client are confusing and suggest that a URI is not needed if Powerline is not being run within an "existing web server."  It is, however, necessary to specify /XMLRPC in the URI box when installing the client. This puzzled me for a while - thanks for the help on this, Jesse!

The identd daemon was not the problem - the client needs msvcp90.dll from the Visual C++ Libraries (available in a redistributable package on Microsoft's website if needed). If you don't see a command window starting the OpenKioskSvc flash briefly at the end of installation, the client has not fully installed notwithstanding the "successful-install-reboot-now-or-later" message.
