to power-ta...@googlegroups.com

Since the demise of Nabble, we've had some discussion of what should replace it. The most common suggestion has been to create a google group. So I did that, and added a few members. I have the permissions set (I believe) so that anyone can find the group and view conversations, but only members can post. I also set "who can join group" to "anyone on the web can ask". But when I log into a different account, I cannot find the group either through a google search or from inside google groups.

I went to a different browser, logged into google under a different account, and went to the group URL https://groups.google.com/g/power-tac-support. That worked, so I poked the "Ask to join group" button at the top, filled in the form, and poked "Ask to join". So far, so good. But back on the group page under my jcoll...@gmail.com account, I don't see the request.

Next I went to gmail, and I now see a new tab at the top called "Forums" where I see the request. I approved it, and that worked. I suppose there must be a description somewhere about how to do this, but I looked around a bit and didn't find it.

So if you agree, I'll get the group URL added to the powertac.org site, the mediawiki, and the github wiki. It would help to have at least one other person who can respond to these requests. For now, I've added Govert and Wolf as managers.

Thoughts and/or suggestions?

John
