Hello All,

Looks like we've got a cool opportunity here for the KC race. If we can show the organizers that we have significant numbers in early sign up, we can get a much larger and more awesome track at the front of the KC Station for the season opener this June!

I know that a lot of you don't like filing for each maker faire, but this seems to be a special case that could turn out to be awesome for us.

If you are a team competing in the 2012 season and expect to race in KC this year, please send your application now:

www.makerfairekc.com/information

Last year's entry list had the following teams:

Pumping Station: One
Electromagnate/ PS1
i3 Detroit
Milwaukee Makerspace
Milwaukee Makerspace
Milwaukee Makerspace
CCCKC
CCCKC
Sector 67
i-Hacked.com
Duct Tape & Zip Ties
Lone Hacker Racing

Please notify KC of your race entry so we can get that sweet track!

I will inform PS:1 to fill out their forms. I also know that there will be another privateer team coming out of PS1. So there's two more right there.

As for Milwaukee, I wonder how many they'll send this year?
Hey i3!! Karen said you're going to do a full calendar! Where you guys at?
Also Sector should do early sign up. Don't want them to miss out on the fun!

Kyle, were you planning on racing KC or were you planning on just detroit and chicago?

Duct Tape & Zip Ties will be there!   We are proud members of CCCKC this year and Make KC.  We're registered ... just haven't started working on the car yet.  We would like to keep car #911 as our number again.

I know ... it is never fun to fill out "paperwork", or in this case would it be called "digi-work"??   Any way ... we get to race for free and get free admission if we just take 5-10 minutes and fill out a form online!!!  I think that is quite a deal!

Don't forget ... we need to plan on getting together at at least one BBQ restaurant while you all are here ... and now that CCCKC has a new home ... of course you will need to come out and check it out!

Sector67 is planning on entering two teams this year.  I will make sure the registration gets filled out ASAP, but you can go ahead and count us in!  Uncreative temporary team names:

Sector67 Team A (Fat Man)
Sector67 Team B (Little Boy)

Also, I cannot WAIT to see how CCCKC is doing at hammerspace!

I've heard many rumors of ps1's machine. The only thing they wish to impart to the public is that they intend to win both the Tesla Cup and The Moxie Cup with the same car.

I have no idea what devilry they are going to enact to do this. That is a lie, and I totally know what they're doing because they wanted to be super legal this year. It is very legal and pretty damned amazing. To think that you guys out there could top this just makes me giddy.

This year is a pretty intense year....for moxie. I'm hearing lots of intensely clever ways to be both fast and fun.

The field is most likely to look like this.

I'll be there for KC and Chicago for sure. Detroit is a maybe. I'll
get signed up for K.C. tonight.

I have a new car almost complete (just needs brakes after a wreck
during the test drive broke the caliper) and it is at least twice as
fast as my ride last year, so hopefully I won't have to drive in the
slow lane this year. I found a gigantic motor for cheap to put on last
year's ride but am pretty sure it would be a rollover hazard if it
moves any faster. I might make it into a motorcycle thing or
something....I don't know. Having a second vehicle is questionable at
this point. It is a 3.5kw motor so I'd really like to put it to use
but...lots of summer projects going on. Plus I still have to install
an ejection seat, rocket boosters, front machine guns and a cup
holder. Oh, and make it play the theme music to night rider.

It looks like Milwaukee Makerspace will be taking a pass on KC, nobody wants to do the 10 hour drive, especially in a truck with the cars :-)

Hey teams! Don't forget to sign up!

I'm understanding that the following teams are attending KC:
PS1: 3 cars
i3: 1 car
Sector 67: 1 or 2 cars
Lone Hacker: 2 cars
Duct Tape: 1 car
Possibly 1 car from All Hands

Tom, if we could work out something with transporting at least one of your machines for you from PS1, would you consider sending a team? We'd really like to get this sweet track at the front of the Faire!

I have signed up one car for i3, the new one, >C. My understanding is
our original car (#3) is being prepped in time for that race, but we
need to hear from Cannonball or Ted to confirm.

Guess we should ask the local teams: could you recruit competent,
unbiased, non-massive drivers if needed? It sounds like that may make
a difference if Milwaukee competes or not, and it could mean a second
car for i3.

Races usually follow the same schedule.  This is not official but a tentative schedule.

Saturday morning
Team check in
Safety checks
Qualifying laps. <-- This determines drag racing line up
Drag races

Saturday afternoon
Heat #1 of 15 Lap sprint
Heat #2 of 15 Lap sprint
Race winners Finals for 15 Lap
Moxie Finals for 15 Lap sprint

Sunday
Team Check in
75 minute Endurance/Relay Race

The endurance race will conclude early Sunday afternoon some time between 1pm and 3pm. The earlier we finish the earlier we can pack up and make the long drive back home. We don't want to hold the race too early since teams will be charging their batteries overnight. We can be pretty flexible on time if we need to be.

The PPPRS follows a schedule that sort of looks like this. Be prepared for this schedule to shift hours randomly when things don’t work out. Well I know for sure we can finish by 3pm on sunday, with the heats and the drag race all taking place on Saturday.

I'd also like to note that we may add an additional event to the race weekend, by turning our qualifying round into a target practice as well.

I figure we get a few events with our nerf guns!
