Hey all,

So the past three years we've had these incredibly safe barriers that we've had access to due to Shell putting an event on in Detroit each year. They aren't holding on to these barriers any longer and they want to give them to us.

Problem: we have nowhere to store them yearly and no means to transport them

It would cost many thousands of dollars of year to just pile them into any warehouse and many more thousands a year to load them onto a truck to take to Dearborn each year for Maker Faire Detroit. We don't have that kind of money (it would be $1000/mo to store them and over 2k to transport them), and no, we aren't going to acquire that much money any time soon.

If you, yes you reading this, know anybody who would want to strike a deal with PRS, whom has land or a warehouse that they have extra space to keep these during the year, ESPECIALLY if they are within only a few miles of Dearborn, let us know.

We don't have much to offer, if you have a business you want to permanently advertise on the track, or if you want to get into the rental business in between the months we need it, I have no idea, but the bottom line is that the Power Racing Series depends on these barriers for a safe and worry-free race each year in Detroit.

So if you know anybody, or have any idea on how to split up about 800ft of track, let us know. I don't care if you just have a field to stick them in, and we can tarp it all up. Anything really. We are desperate.

Couple of questions:

Any idea how many there are?
Will they all fit in on a single semi trailer?
What are they called?  Brand/model general type etc.

There are about 1200 ft of them. We would like to have 1000 ft but they would only fit in a 48ft drop deck trailer that moving companies use. 800 would fit in a regular trailer.

Companies exist that rent things like this out, I think?  Maybe whoever agrees to store them could use them as a little side hustle and rent them out at other times, or a deal could be worked with an existing rental company?

Will The Henry Ford Museum step up to store these outdoors to support this spectacle that helps them sell the tickets each year?
Maybe write to the president of museum to request this specific help.

I ran this by the company that loans us the airport barriers for Milwaukee, since they aren't traffic rated they aren't interested, but he suggested we talk to other rental companies.  I have a few in Milwaukee I'll approach but no promises.

At the least I can find a place in Milwaukee to park a semi to store them, the problem is buying a road worthy semi trailer can run around $4000 plus a hundred or so every year for the annual, inspection.

Sounds like a home was found for the barriers?
