As you probably do not know, there is a new power racing series website.

Its fancy. Its new. Its a little rough around the edges. It has team registration that will not be pointless.

Note: This season (according to Jim who is right next to me) has mandatory online registration. We are taking the tech surrounding ppprs and updating it to something thats at least competitive with 2003.

Who should do this?

ONE PERSON PER TEAM. A.K.A TEAM CAPTAIN.

What does this mean for you?

A) Neat online profile page with pictures and info that you can edit as well as race stats that will be added later that you can not edit
B) There may or may not be more info online to fill out at a date in the near future that may or may not be used to give you pre-filled out Maker Faire registration forms
C) "near real time" online race stats that don't require excel or depend on poor math skills
D) Automatic race related notifications by email and text message (texts on race days only). AKA NO MORE CALLING JIM 90 MINUTES BEFORE THE RACE STARTS ASKING WHEN THE RACE STARTS
E) More stuff probably

So, if you want to race. Go fill out them forms. When your profile is ready, click the "Make Visible" link on your team page. I will get an email and I'll mark it visible.

Notes:
- To add team photo, edit the team.

A few notes regarding registration and the website:

FIRST:
Most importantly, all personal info (phone numbers, email addresses, etc) will all be kept private and only used by us for official purposes.

SECOND:
If you have questions or issues regarding the website, please respond in this thread or email me directly. DO NOT email Jim about the website. DO NOT email Jim about the website. DO NOT email Jim about the website. He probably won't know the answer and is unable to make any changes.

LAST:
I've seen that a few of you have signed up and started filling out your team profiles. Only one team has "completed" it and requested that their team be visible.

The rest of you slackers should get on this cause once someone takes a car number and I publish the team, that number is THEIRS. Some preferential treatment will be given to teams who have used the same car number for two or more seasons in a row. However, if you wait until May to register your team and cars, I will not listen to "boo hoo thats my number".

PLEASE READ THIS PART CAREFULLY:
!!! If you want to secure your car's number, register ASAP !!!
!!! If you want to secure your car's number, register ASAP !!!
!!! If you want to secure your car's number, register ASAP !!!

A big thank you to the 5 teams who have already signed up.

If you go here:

    http://www.powerracingseries.org/teams/milwaukee-makerspace

it shows "Website" with the link text being:

    http://milwaukeemakerspace.org/

but the actual link in the HTML is this:

    /teams/milwaukee-makerspace

so the page links to itself rather than the web site you think it will.

Seems like a bug.

Pete
