Hi

I am trying to start an experiment in Outdoor OTA. I am using 1 dense deployment site (Guesthouse) and for testing with a UE, 1 fixed endpoint (Guesthouse nuc1). When trying to use my reservation for an experiment, using the srs-outdoor-OTA profile I get an error saying the frequency is out of range. I have checked in the documentation for the guesthouse nuc 1 and that range should work.

Hello Aditya.

The `nuc1` devices at all fixed endpoint sites are RX only. The
message is misleading, but this is likely the issue. It is the B210
radios connected to the `nuc2` nodes at the Fixed Endpoints that can
transmit. A summary of radio capabilities can be found on the
"Experiments -> Powder Radio Info" page (when you are logged in to the
Portal):

So I wont be able to use any fixed endpoint with only rx, even if my testing is only on the DL.

Should I make different reservation choosing a fixed endpoint with both rx and tx. The reason why I choose nuc 1 was because in the reservation page it was the only fixed endpoint/COTS UE variant that showed up, this is found in the picture attached.

I know it is past the 9AM approval time for experiments, but if I make a reservation soon (after this issue is resolved) could I get my experiment approved by today.

UEs need to be able to transmit and receive. The UE and gNB will go
back and forth to establish a connection. I don't know this profile,
so someone else from the team (probably Dustin) will need to chime in.
I modified your reservation request that was pending this morning to
include `nuc2` at the Guesthouse FE instead of `nuc1`.

ok.

Right now I am running into an issue with using the fixed endpoint as a UE. As in the picture above, the only fixed endpoints I can use are the nuc1 variants. As my reservation is for a nuc2 it is not allowing me to use the reservation, if I select a fixed endpoint when instantiating the experiment (it throws an error message at the last step); if I choose to not include a fixed endpoint when instantiating my experiment, the experiment does not have any fixed endpoint (this was after trying to make an experiment in this manner, I have now deleted the experiment). Should I be using a different profile?

Adithya,

The fixed endpoints are included in that profile for debugging purposes, but are not likely to attach to base stations at the dense endpoint sites. If you read the profile description/instructions you’ll note that it is meant to be used with the mobile endpoints (i.e., campus shuttles with COTS UEs).

Yes I did see that, I wanted to use the fixed endpoints just for testing in the meantime. Is there any other profile that I could use for testing a 5G system with a fixed endpoint, because for our project we are considering fixed endpoints for the UE as they will continually be attached to the gNB. Why would the fixed endpoints likely not attach, is it a proximity issue; would it be possible to try (either in this profile or another one).

At this point, I think you will need access to one of the COTS O-RUs in order to attach a UE at a fixed endpoint to a POWDER gNodeB. These aren’t currently directly accessible to users, but we can set an experiment up for you. We can discuss details at your office hours session.

ok,

Would it be possible to have the office hours sooner (e.g. tomorrow) as I am trying to start data collection next week.

I’m booked tomorrow, but if you can send me a direct email listing the requirements for your experiment, I can think further about the details and come up with a plan to fit your experiment in among the others that are trying to use the RUs.

ok I will send you that email directly.

Would you be free any day before next Friday for our office hours?
