Powder/Emulab Planned Power Bump - July 17, 6 AM MDT

Hi all,

Apologies for the short notice.  We were told that there will be a roughly 10 to 20 second  power outage affecting the Merrill Engineering building including Powder and Emulab resources on Thursday, July 17 at 6 AM MDT.  Powder experiment nodes in the MEB datacenter (some d740/d840/d760p nodes) will reboot as well as Emulab cluster nodes (d430s) and most of the experimental network switches. This will also take down the OTA lab and conducted RF resources. Our core infrastructure is on UPS and should weather the outage, but you may find yourself briefly unable to access the Powder portal at that
time.

As always, we encourage you to save off important data from your nodes prior to
the downtime, in case of any hardware issues following restoration of power.

Hi all,

Just a reminder, this power bump is happening TOMORROW, on July 29th at 6 AM MDT.  This is expected to be a 10-20 second outage that will cause Emulab and Powder experiment nodes (pc3000, d710, d820, d430, some d740/d840/d760), most Emulab/Powder switch infrastructure, the OTA lab, and any radio equipment at MEB and WEB to reboot.  Our core infrastructure is on UPS and should weather the outage, but you may find yourself briefly unable to access the Powder portal at that time.  Please make sure you have saved off any important data from your nodes in case of any unexpected issues.
