Werun the bigger center pivot machine. Had two to them, both been good machines. We haven't had problems with cutterbars, except when driver tried to cut a 14" metal irrigation riser in half. Even then, it didn't total the machine. The one thing I don't like about them is they don't cut as 'clean' as some other brands. By that I mean they tilt the bar forward to get the knives lower and then it tends to leave the field wavy or rippled looking.

Not specifically the 1411, just the CNH cutterbar in general. It's bulky for starters, have to run a lot of angle if you want a low cut.

It's high maintenance after awhile especially if you have stones. Shock hubs help, but the cross shafts and such still wear and the cast modules still break with impacts from stones. Not the fastest or easiest to work on either. I understand the concept of individual modules, but haven't had any issues with the single module gear drive cutterbars, far less actually and no need to worry about shims and such. No shock system on the pottinger or kuhn ones either but havent actually needed it for some reason. Had the bolts shear for turtles at times, tack a nut on and they come right out, gears are fine. Did strip one top assembly once with a concrete foundation impact, few bolts and its replaced in minutes. Not to mention the quick knives really speed things up and get people to actually change them when needed because its not such a PITA. No need for an impact in the cab, or something to block the cutterbar if you wanted to change them by hand, then people cross threading bolts, wrecking the nuts, etc. Change every knife on a 30' in less than half the time it took to do them on an 18' NH. The Knives do not stand up to impacts as well, maybe because they aren't as free spinning. We seem to replace a lot more broken and bent knives before being able to flip them ever, whereas with the NH we were able to flip most of them. Definatley go through more knives, but save a lot of time. I think a lot of the headaches we had with the NH was due to being 18' wide. Narrower ones seem to hold up better.

Can anyone tell me if there is any thing special about timing a cutterbar on a 1411 discbine?I am assuming that as long as it is 90 degrees from the one next to it that it will be allright, but I don't want to find out the hard way i'm wrong. Thanks ahead of time for any information.
