Important: When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions. However, if your Windows Update client is already broken, use a running Windows installation as the repair source, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or from a removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files. To do this, run the following command instead:

Note: Replace the C:\RepairSource\Windows placeholder with the location of your repair source. For more information about using the DISM tool to repair Windows, reference Repair a Windows Image.

To repair the corrupted files manually, view details of the System File Checker process to find the corrupted file, and then manually replace the corrupted file with a known good copy of the file.

Note The Sfcdetails.txt file contains details from every time that the System File Checker tool has been run on the computer. The file includes information about files that were not repaired by the System File Checker tool. Verify the date and time entries to determine the problem files that were found the last time that you ran the System File Checker tool.

After you determine which system file was corrupted and could not be repaired through the detail information in the Sfcdetails.txt file, find where the corrupted file located, and then manually replace the corrupted file with a known good copy of the file. To do this, follow these steps:

Note You may be able to get a known good copy of the system file from another computer that is running the same version of Windows with your computer. You may perform a System File Checker process on that computer to make sure the system file that you intend to copy is a good copy.

The Inbox Repair tool doesn't connect or analyze any data stored in an Exchange mailbox. The tool only looks for errors (corruption), and if there are any, gives you the opportunity to allow the tool to fix those errors. If you can't start the Inbox Repair tool, you should try to repair your Outlook program.

In the Folder Pane, you might see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. Although the repair process might recreate some of the folders, they may be empty. The Lost and Found folder contains any folders and items recovered by the repair tool that Outlook can't place in their original structure.

These recovered folders are usually empty because this is a rebuilt .pst file. You should also see a folder named Lost and Found. This folder contains folders and items that the Inbox Repair Tool recovered. Unfortunately, items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder may be beyond repair.

If you are satisfied with the information that you recovered, you are finished. However, if you want to try to recover additional information, go to the Recover repaired items from the backup file (Optional) section.

ScanPST mostly validates and corrects errors in the internal data structures of a .pst file. The .pst file is a database file. Therefore, structures such as BTrees and reference counts, are checked and repaired as necessary. These low-level objects have no knowledge of the upper-level structures, such as messages, calendar items, and so on, that are built upon them.

I saw several discussion posts about the User Layer Repair feature after it was released. People were asking, what if you wanted to roll a repair out to 500 users at the same time? What if you wanted to roll four repairs to 500 users? As is often the case, I had some free time during the holidays and I decided to get a few things out of my to-do queue. Creating a utility to help with challenges around repairing user layers was at the top of my list.

I call it the User Layer Repair Utility. It enables administrators to select an OS layer, then list all the app layers created with that OS layer and match the layers to their associated repair JSON file. They can then get a list of all the user layers associated with that OS layer and select both the desired app layers to repair and the user layers to repair against, then copy the repair files to those selected user layer folders. When you open the utility, you will see something similar to the following:

Please note, the search boxes can be used to perform a wildcard search; however you can only perform your selection within the search. If you clear the search or use another search, the selections will be cleared. Also the utility will show the results of the copy for two minutes in the PowerShell Window, and it will create a log file in the Logs folder for every run.

To set up the utility, download (see below) and unblock the zip file. Then extract it to a folder and run the hta file. You will see the user interface. Click on the Setup tab and follow the directions below:

Lastly, and possibly most importantly, this is version 1.0 of this utility. I have tested it in my lab, but it has not been tested by customers at the time this blog was published. Please start by using this in your lab. Treat it like any script you would develop yourself and test it well before adding it to your production environment.

We downloaded the latest version of the SaRACmd.exe utility (as of today 10/20/2023) and attempted to run it on a diverse selection of computers. In each case it fails with "20: Could not find an installed version of Teams"

There's no terminal in the boot-repair utility. So there's no way for me to enter these commands.(There is an Xterm though. Should I use that?) Have you ever come across this? How do I resolve this issue?

More than 75,000 rotator cuff repairs are performed annually, yet cost-effectiveness data are unavailable. This study examines the cost utility of rotator cuff repair by relating surgical costs to increase in quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs). Eighty-seven patients were followed up prospectively for 1 year, during which cost and quality of life data were collected. Patient-based utility measures of quality of life (European Quality-of-Life measure [EuroQoL] and Health Utility Index [HUI]) were administered. Changes in these measures generated net QALYs. Finally, life expectancies were applied to generate a cost-effectiveness ratio, and subsequent 1-way sensitivity analyses varied costs, QALYs, and discount rates to determine which factors drive cost-effectiveness. Total costs averaged $10,605.20. Significant improvements were noted in health-related quality of life postoperatively. The estimated mean lifetime gain in QALYs from surgery was 0.81 by use of the HUI and 3.43 by use of the EuroQoL. This yielded cost-effectiveness ratios of $13,092.84/QALY by use of the HUI and $3,091.90/QALY by use of the EuroQoL. The cost-effectiveness of rotator cuff repair compares favorably with other common interventions in health care and reaches commonly accepted benchmarks for cost-effectiveness.

There are different CHKDSK commands or parameters you can use to locate and repair issues on your hard drive. After running the basic CHKDSK command, you may not need to use additional commands if the results state that no repairs are required.

No. CHKDSK is not a data recovery tool and will not repair corrupted files or recover lost or damaged files. But it does check if the state of the information on your disk is safe and consistent, and CHKDSK can help you repair formatting issues with your hard drive.

Using the Plesk repair utility with the web aspectregenerates the configuration files for the web server and all domains. In addition, you can use this aspect to reinstall the SSL/TLScertificates, or to resolve issues with missing or corrupted PHPhandlers and Apache modules.

If the Plesk repair utility detects a domain, a service plan, or ascheduled task using a missing or corrupted PHP handler, the utilityinforms you about it and gives you the option to replace the corruptedPHP handler with another one from the list of registered PHP handlers. Then, a domain, a service plan, or a scheduled task is reconfigured withthe selected PHP handler.

Windows Repair is a utility that contains numerous mini-fixes for Windows. This tool will allow you to repair common issues with your computer such as firewall, file permission, and Windows Update problems. When using this tool you can select the particular fixes you would like to launch and start the repair process. This tool also comes in a portable version that allows you to use the program from a portable device such as a USB flash drive.

Two free utilities are very successful in fixing disk problems -- the Disk Diagnostic or Repair utility built into the BIOS or EFI of most computers and Windows 10 Check Disk (CHKDSK). The BIOS utility varies by manufacturer and should be the first step to resolving disk issues. Each manufacturer has a different way of opening the utility on boot, but pressing the F10, F2 or Escape key usually works. Look for a text line on the screen that indicates what to do.

The Windows 10 Check Disk command-line utility is reliable for finding and repairing disk problems by scanning the disk looking for bad sectors. A disk is divided into a sort of grid with concentric tracks and sectors, and the read/write head reads data in these sectors. If the disk is physically damaged and Windows has difficulty reading it, the system logs the error or warning. CHKDSK can find those bad sectors, write the data to a new sector and mark the old one so the disk won't use it again.
