Hi JustVito,

I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer.

I cannot get to my x-plane system to verify what I advising.

Get rid of the sub folder you have created for your add-on aircraft.

My memory tells me there is a "check box" you need to tick in the top right hand corner of the screen when selecting your aircraft. This should help.

Also before you do anything else have a look at the following link found at =V4RjIxrhkXs from Michael Brown. Michael operates a business, XForcePC, that specialises in the building of PCs predominantly for X-PLane. Laminar Research recommends this business as the preferred supplier of PCs within the USA (mentioned in the X-Plane Manual). Pay particular attention the last half of the video.

Hello! I recently just got X-Plane. I was wondering if I could get some free addon planes and some free plugins that can make my scenery better. Right now it doesn't look particularly good. I've seen youtubers who have such good looking scenery, and I'm not sure how to get it like that. Please leave a reply if you can help.

The must haves are better push back, avitab, zibo, and aerobask dr401. Once you get into tinkering fly with lua, ortho4xp, and dataref editor. For the rest browse downloads section as suggested. based on your interests. Once you get into spending exorbitant amounts of money on payware planes anything with aerobask thranda tourque sim hot start in the name for GA, Toliss and Flight factor for airbuses Xcrafts for regionals, Ini,Rotate, IXEG FJ sim for classic airliners. Modern heavy boeings are not all that good in XP compared to P3D so if you have that sim stick with PMDG and QW.

Right, so I only use freeware plugins for the visuals themselves (some payware scenery and aircraft), and I'd say they look pretty darn good. For the clouds, I use a plugin called "enhanced cloudscapes", which adds volumetric clouds (like the ones in msfs2020) to XP. Be aware that they are rather heavy on the fps so you need a beefy pc to run them.

When it comes to planes however, I only use payware as I literally only fly airbuses and there are no good freeware airbus aircraft unfortunately. I can highly recommend the Toliss A319 with the BSS sound pack, and the ini builds A300-600.

I do not use custom scenery airports but a lot of things to improve the overall appearance but that is all payware. However I first used some freeware. The payware is often of a much higher quality but you can get a lot of improvements using freeware.

You need to know what does what and organize things pretty well to avoid conflicts. For most when it comes to plugins and everything that modifies data-refs. I use a program for that (Xorganiser) Xplane is a big lego box. You can change and make everything you want. If you can program, then the sky is the limit. If not, then there is a lot of freeware and payware.

- Things like shaders let you change colors, lod etc.
- You have things to improve clouds and sky colors
- there is weather injection.
- To make a flight more dynamic you have plugins like the Headshake plugin
- There are better autogens
- There are libraries to improve the default objects like airport buildings, runway textures etc
- addons that add better trees.
- XEurope is something you will love if you fly above europe.
- plugins that add a lot of other planes that fly around you but not as fps hungry as the default AI planes.
- there are plugins that add ATC chatter or pax sounds. But also better thunder sounds.
- There are ortho overlays and better mesh etc.
- X-prefab is also a very good addon, it makes global airports a lot more pleasing to the eyes

Hi, we are trying to install a new addon plane (767-400ER) from Flyaway, and we can't figure out how to install it into XPlane11. We are using a desktop iMac. We can only find instructions for installing the scenery or installing addon plans in Microsoft Flight Sim. We've downloaded the file but need to get it into the X-Plane program. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If it is a new file in X-Plane 11 then it will show a " ? " for the aircraft, just continue with loading and when X-Plane has finished loading, go to the menu and select Developer, then select Regenerate icons for the current aircraft.

Certainly, installing an addon aircraft like the 767-400ER in X-Plane 11 can be somewhat perplexing, especially if you are working with an iMac. Don't worry though; I'm here to guide you through the process. Here's how you can get the addon plane into X-Plane 11:

1. Locate the Downloaded File
The file you've downloaded from Flyaway should be a compressed file, likely in ZIP format. Find the location where it has been saved, usually in the 'Downloads' folder.

3. Move to the Aircraft Folder
Open the main directory of X-Plane 11. Navigate to the 'Aircraft' folder, and within it, you should find a folder named 'Laminar Research'. If you have other folders for third-party aircraft, you can place the addon there too.

4. Copy the Addon Aircraft Folder
Simply drag and drop the addon folder from the unzipped location into the 'Laminar Research' or third-party aircraft folder. Your directory path should look something like this:

It's important to mention that this process is specific to X-Plane 11 and may not necessarily apply to other platforms like Microsoft Flight Simulator. Also, ensure that you are using an addon compatible with your X-Plane 11 version.

I have xplane 11. Just install for about 1 week. Crash my plane on the run way . it crash and the plane stays upside down all the time. It will not go up right at all. I uninstall the game and install it and it start xplane 11 and the plane is still up s...

I have X-Plane 11, Steam version, running on a Macbook Pro. I want to find help in learning how to download freeware planes to use with the flight simulator and how to download SimBrief flight plans instead of having to key them in if that is possible o...

I added an SSD drive in my alienware aurora r9 (not happy with it's fans going crazy). I have already installed x-plane 11 before I upgraded my memory and added two new SSD drives. Is it possible to move x-plane 11 to the new SSD drive in hopes of get...

In XP12 I use only 3 aircraft addons, no scenery addons, a few utilities like Avitab and am trying to "deal with" WT3 too, although after having getting accustomed to FSHUD for P3D and MFS it is difficult to like it as much as I do FSHUD...

These addons give me the best sensation I believe XP12 can provide to it's users, but I own many other airplanes that i bought for XP11 and a couple for XP12, although their level of detail isn't up to my liking and / or they're plagged by irritating bugs / limitations...

Aircraft: Hot Start Challenger 650 (you'll be hard pressed to find any other aircraft model as detailed and deep as this in any desktop sim), Torquesim SR22 G1000, Aerobask DA50RG. I'm mostly a GA guy so the big tubeliners don't do anything for me.

Looking for the Deltawings M-346 when its released. Also JF Hawk T1 xp12 update, currently cant start engines, due to pressure density issue has Compressor stall on start up. Discovered that one with a new developer.

In the following posts I am going to show a series screenshots I have taken of X-Plane aircraft that I have purchased in the past that I think would also be very good to see IPACS consider as future payware DLC addons for Aerofly FS 4. These were specifically chosen for use as sightseeing aircraft to take advantage of the superior default photo-real scenery that Aerofly FS 4 comes with. Some of these are freeware but most are payware. However I am pretty sure that none of the payware venders would even consider making an Aerofly FS 4 addon version even if IPACS paid them to do it (except for maybe Jemma Simulations).

Jemma Simulations - one man developer, former hobby developer with only one payware addon so far. He seems to do commercial work for others so IPACS might be able to pay him for and FS4 version of his aircraft.

Polaris AM-FIB. Shown here VSkyLabs version for X-Plane 11. Hang-glider in a rubber dinghy, same issue with center post for runway landing lineup and maybe not as useful for Aerofly FS 4 since water is not simulated. The only instrument in the VSkyLabs version is an smart-phone (maybe someone could play Aerofly FS 2023 mobile edition on it) although the initial version had a GNS 530 which was removed for being too unrealistic.
