Hi, I just bought synergy for my 2 fedora desktops. I keep getting this error. Everytime, I try to connect. Little heads up, I am running 2 dell optiplex 755s with 4gb of ram and dual cores. The servers a 64bit and the clients a 32bit system. I am hoping this get resolved. It's driving me crazy!
I have occasionally had only one screen or just part of a screen available to synergy while a local mouse could access all available screen area. Each time the problem has been that synergyc was starting up and remaining resident before the screens had their custom definitions appplied.
I could not get synergy to see the entire desktop using the visual monitor setup, even with the 'save as default' button. I believe the problem is when in the startup sequence the settings are applied.
hi, I've installed synergy deb package and set up 1x server and 1x client.
the problem; when the client connects to the server it disconnects directly in an endless loop.
any clue how to debug this; or what this might be?
thanks
The server has to be configured to be aware of all connecting clients. You have to tell it which clients are allowed to connect and where they will appear in relation to the server's screen. Do you have the GUI config tool installed? It's been ages since I used Synergy but it looks like the package for the GUI is quicksynergy, it'll make it much easier to set up.
@Eraph thanks, synergy has a manager gui; quicksynergy is like a quick-setup tool which makes it fast.
I also created the conf file for synergy; stating the ip/hostname of the client and server.
not sure what's missing...
My service just won't start with no errors, it just dies as soon as you try to connect to it. I tried reinstalling after deleting /.config/Synergy and /.config/synergy with both makepkg and paru. This is a brand new arch install with i3 and nvidia proprietary gfx drivers.
Based on past experience this is caused by the use of gnome-screensaver. I have run into similar issues with screensaver syncing (from linux to linux), I was able to rectify this by installing and configuring xscreensaver on the systems in question. Additionally there seems to be an open enhancement request already posted to the synergy+ code group.
i have four comupters, and i have for screens, i am using a quad card on one computer and using a KVM witch oprates on one screen out of the four. how do i get synergy to work on all four computers.(when i use the KVM to switch)
The system whose keyboard and mouse you want to share, runs the synergy server service (synergys), and all the other systems runs the synergy client service (synergyc) to connect to server.
Synergy is a platform independent utility. Compiled version of synergy is available for various platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Android and Apple iOS. You can download source code and compiled version from here.
There are four options such as left, right, down and up to connect screens to each other. Before writing link section, keep the system on which you want to run synergy server service ( it means you want to use keyboard and mouse of the system in all systems which are connected across local network.
