So at the moment I read music sites, look at record labels I like and try them out on Apple Music or band amp or whatever. I wish there was an easy way to discover music I might like, or find out about new releases from artists I love. I am thinking of trying Roon which I believe has this

Meet the neural network that analyzes your music library, powering new features and improving existing ones. Why use generalized metadata to find similar artists, when you can discover what artists, albums, and songs are truly related using our sophisticated sonic technology.

Take your music on the road with CarPlay and Android Auto. And with powerful offline support, you can download a few hours of your favorite playlist or stations to keep you company when you go off-grid.

OK I was a teenager in the 80s so a lot of my music purchases back then were going to the record store, looking at the front and back album cover and the song titles and pulling the trigger. If everything looked metal I would buy it. There was a late night metal show on local radio on the weekend but they would only play the popular stuff like Metallica and Megadeth. Some of the albums I bought were recommendations in metal magazines.

These days I've discovered a lot of music old and new by watching the Sea Of Tranquility YouTube channel. It's all talk he doesn't play any samples on his show. Every Wednesday he posts new album reviews.

Also I follow pages on Facebook that post updates on new rock and metal releases or talk about old releases on their anniversary release date. Sometimes I'll buy a CD based on positive comments that are posted if it's a style of music I like.

I get Apple Music for free but I don't even use it. They don't have certain artists and they don't even have complete discographies for some artists. Plus I enjoy building my music library at my own pace and Plexamp is an awesome app.

Yes I use Plex for video, buy never liked it for music. I enjoy using PlexAmp on both Android and iOS though I think the Windows app is a bit of a disaster and I stopped using the Mac version as well.

As someone that plays music from my NAS through my phone often and doesn't really need the other libraries there, I want to like it. But parts of it just seem unintuitive, even compared to the normal Plex app. No stop/X button to close out of song/play queue without closing the app. Play Queue broken up in tabs of previous songs and upcoming songs. Like it says on the front page "You might be confused at first but trust us, this is awesome" and I think I'm still at the confused stage lol.

Plex (server) shows my music library correctly, but when I launch PlexAmp - I am unable to add any libraries. Nothing is found. I have all Online Media Sources disabled. I am not looking to use any of the online sources but local source on my NAS.

Edit: If I enable any of the Online Media Accesses, PlexAmp sees those as source, but it's not what I am attempting to do here. I wanted to add a LAN music library to the PlexAmp. Something is preventing it.

I'm a very long time Plex user but never really used it for music prior to this year. I was a big Google Play Music user/subscriber that took full advantage of the combo of streaming+music locker service, but the YouTube Music transition has been less than stellar for my habits for a lot of reasons I won't go into. I primarily listen to music as either entire albums or library on random. I had never really rated a song in any service until recently and am not a playlist person. My library is 17,000 songs.

Discovery Mix was pretty bleh for me. I was hoping it would improve but I really never got it to recommend me good stuff. It constantly played like cover songs of songs I know and even stuff in other languages. (I have no foreign language music in my library)

Plexamp is a godsend and is absolutely an excellent music player for people who care about their libraries. I can't wait to see it continue to improve and am happy that Music in general has gotten so much attention from Plex. Its not perfect but its as close to perfect as any other service I've used. I use and enjoy it several hours every day and am very, very thankful (tis the season and all) that it exists.

I love how they have updated support for music. Plexamp is fucking incredible. It has completely replaced my need for Spotify and works flawlessly 99% of the time for me. I wish they had a version for TV's. But on my phone i love it. It has completely changed how i consume music. I know alot of people harsh sometimes on how Plex is going but i still really do have faith in this company and so far haven't had an issue with anything they are doing. They are also vastly ahead of any competition as far as features and ease of use are concerned .

I switched from Spotify (and others) to Plex for music and by extension Plexamp around 6 months ago and I have to say, I so glad I made the switch. I'm more in tune with my local music as opposed to being 'fed' music by other commercial services.

At home, I tend to listen to music using my desktop and I prefer to use Plexamp for Windows because the interface is great when you're simply listening to music; but I see Plexamp as the 'Player' and my Windows Plex App (or plex.tv) as the main program for organising music.

After reading this back, I'd just like to quantify, I love this program and use many features which I've not written here. In my opinion, Plexamp is much better than subscription services. For me, it's reconnected me to music and helped to reacquaint me with forgotten favorites.

Why doesn't plex fix a match when I find it. I have to do it manually. Example King Gizzard new album isn't matched automatically. I do the fix match and bam it pops up but I select it but nothing happens ?. What gives am I doing something wrong. Why can't I use allmusic or something with an ID number to fix the match.

I will launch PlexAmp, connect to a Sonos speaker/group and initiate play from PlexAmp. I might start adding songs to the queue, rate a song, etc. What is frustrating is that, at some point soon after initiating play, (maybe when my phone goes to sleep?) it is clear that PlexAmp is no longer playing and any changes to the queue, etc. are not reflected in what is continuing to play from Sonos. I have to launch the Sonos app to further control my music, but with the limited functionality that the Sonos/Plex relationship offers.

Also, a very early version of this I optionally installed the headless plexamp binary (which like Volumio is written in Node) - but PlexAmp have moved to only support a newer linux kernel so it stopped working, but I believe I can get it to work again in a future Volumio and have that casting capability enable again.

I've been using Foobar to manage my music library for a long time now. While it's great in our home environment, I would like the family to have a mobile app connected to our music and I love the sound of what Plex has done with the Plexamp app.

MUSIC TO YOUR EYES: Experience your music collection like you've never seen it before, with our UltraBlur backgrounds, over a dozen hypnotic visualizers, and four visual themes to satisfy every taste.

But having several apps that can access and interact with my AM library on my phone (Marvis, Discogs, MusicHarbor, etc) ...it doesn't seem like a stretch to have Plexamp be one of those? Would just be a game-changer if I could access streaming and Plex music libraries in the same app on my phone.

Would like to see an android music app just like "Plex amp". trying to set up emby connect is a pain in the ? and it just won't work. the only reason I am a paid user of Plex is because of their Plex amp app. please consider making one to would just make it so much ez''er for us non tech people. I stopped using Plex server for my media because every time I import movies it gets everything wrong and I have to go in an hunt down the correct info and change it only to see that Plex changes it back to wrong info. so tried of that. I also have problems with Plex's naming scheme and there don't seem to be a user friendly document to tell us how to name our files so that we don't end up with missing media and or wrong info. Emby does the same thing but just not as bad and its es'er to fix then Plex.

For me while I work I typically play an album or two and then let autoplay take over until lunch time. At lunch I'll fire up another album and let autoplay take over until the end of the work day. I'll fire up another album or two and then let autoplay take over until I quit listening to music for the day.

I just started using plexamp. When I try to ask google to play a specific song in plex amp, it either searches the web or plays it in a different music app. For example, if I say "hey Google, play Reptilia by The Strokes on plexamp", it will just show a google search for the song instead of playing it. Is there any way to fix this?

Plex is best known as the server software you can use to host your own streaming movie and TV collection, but it also supports music libraries. Even better, the dedicated Plexamp application gives you a more streamlined music player for your mobile devices and computers. Plex is now making the Plexamp player available to everyone, but with a few catches.

Plexamp is a dedicated music player app that connects to your existing Plex library, giving you a way to enjoy your music without the extra clutter of movies, TV shows, and everything else in your general Plex library. It was a great addition to the Plex ecosystem when it was first introduced, but it was only available to paying Plex Pass members. That's now changing, as the base app experience is now available to free Plex users.

With a free Plex account, Plexamp supports gapless playback, fades, pre-caching, loudness leveling, visualizations, and themes. You can also access Plexamp from Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Siri, as well as stream your music over AirPlay and Chromecast. The functionality locked to Plex Pass includes downloads support, mix builders, the ChatGPT-powered "Sonic Sage" playlist creator, automatic sample rate matching, the headless remote client for Raspberry Pi and other similar devices, and the equalizer.
