If anyone ever comes across this in the future because you are trying to define your own custom converter factory and are getting this error, it can also be caused by having multiple variables in a class with a misspelled or the same serialized name. IE:

These warrants were executed on the 7000 block of Pierson Drive, the 2000 block of Chapel Hill Drive, and the 3000 block of Norwood Lane in Mobile, Alabama.
Following an extensive year-long investigation into the illegal acquisition and ownership of catalytic converters, the focus of the warrants was directed toward Thanh Nguyen, the owner of NBR. The scope of this investigation extended beyond state boundaries, reaching from Texas to Mobile.
As a result of these search warrants, officers seized several items as evidence, including business documents, financial records, three laptops, one iPad, tax records, five catalytic converter-cutting machines, two dually pickup trucks, one Honda Kei minitruck, and three forklifts. Additionally, approximately 160 catalytic converters, estimated at $65,600, were seized. Further seizures are expected.
Thanh Nguyen, 40, was arrested without incident and charged with 13 felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant related to used/detached catalytic converters. He also faces a felony warrant from Texas for engaging in organized criminal activity. In a prior search warrant executed in October 2022, officers seized 975 catalytic converters valued at approximately $400,000 and $506,836 in currency from Thanh Nguyen's bank accounts.
