So the first meeting was on the 16th, thanks to everyone who turned up, we had an interesting discussion about where we'd like to go with the project.

Main topics were:

Dates of future meetings, for the near future we decided on the second and fourth wednesday of the month, initially starting with the 30th of Maym then the 13th of June, who can make it?

Tools/Machines we'd like, a 3d printer is top of the list, we're going to see if we can get another hackspace to print the necessary parts for a RepRap.
I've an oscilloscope I'm going to donate, plus a PCB light box and assembly stand.
Ian has a CNC machine he can spare when we have space for it.
Anyone have anything else taking up space that they can spare?

Building a website, Richard is going to throw down a framework, Kate is interested in adding copy to it.

Projects we'd like to build.  The idea is to have an open day/night when we are up and running, to show potential members what we're all about, for this, we thought a range of cool projects would be great.
Ideas bandied around were: Musical doodads, including building a therimen, Robots (preferably killer), a robot olympics would be interesting, drag races, line following, maze following etc. A scale Segway, possibly controlled by a robot doll....
Anyone else have any interesting ideas?

I think we need to decide what the meetings should consist of, weather to have part for building stuff, part for discussion on projects and part for discussing the hackspace future, or maybe have a pub meet once a month for discussion to free up hackspace time for making.
Whats everyone else think?

We also decided we should visit an established hackspace, to get ideas and see what can be done.  Coincidentally Nottingham Hackspace are having an open day on Saturday the 26th (this weekend) assuming I'm not working, I'll be going, will anyone else?

Ian is also working on a logo for the hackspace.

The TECC are hopefully sorting out some storage space for us as well.

Cheers

Si

I'll get one ready by lunch time ;-)

PS I had a look at the Segway and I think we have a project on our hands to make a 1/4 scale one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBC0h7jxxM8

Simon,

sorry but I can't make Nottingham this weekend as going in other direction... take lots of pics and maybe a vid or two.

which give me an idea for pot hs.. maybe our practical/building meets should be web cam'ed?

idea of planning meet in pub and having an agenda for the meet is also good by me. Stops us going of on tangents and focus us on the task at hand.

Ian
