Anybody aware of this? I just happened to stumble across on YouTube…
Hey,
what a surprise, he's back!!!
Sounds like Streets to me. No keyboards, not symphonic, not progressive....
I never understood how such an incredible, fantastic Hammond player, pianist, keyboardist Steve Walsh is,
has left Kansas to show up with riff guitar music in Streets then.
Can't describe how disappointed I was back then, when I heard the 1st Streets LP. I knew Mike Slamer from
City Boy. Great band, too. Progressive, great keyboards, multiple vocal arrangements....
I bought both Streets LP's but, didn't give them much spins.
Well, nowadays most rock music doesn't have neither keyboards, nor flutes, nor violins, nor real chords, nothing.
Just noise. No melodies.
Not that I compare Streets / Steve to this but, it comes to mind somehow.
I wish there's Hammond organ and keyboards (The Spider) played by Walsh on his new album.

Hey there,
Anyone bought "Black Butterfly"???
Angelo, do you sell it in your store??
No opinions here, at the die hard base??
Moreover, how about Leftoverture & beyond live??
Someone wrote:
"One of the best things about this release is the mixing. As good as it is when you're at the concert
you tend to lose some of the intricacies of the music due to the robust guitar work. In other words, the concerts tend to be loud. Here you get to hear all the parts being played. Manion's great keyboard playing is much more present in the songs on the CD
than in concert and adds great depth to the music."

I totally agree on the Leftoverture and Beyond. Definitely one of the best recorded live releases ever. Someone got a great recording and mix. The vocals are both better and worse than some of the latter year Steve Walsh recordings. Ronnie Platt sounds great on a lot of the stuff where Steve’s voice had trouble the last few years, but there are a few of the higher parts where Platt struggles to get to. Overall a must have recording.
As for me, I just cannot listen to the Leftoverture part because of the HUGE autotune present on Platt's voice !!
It destroys all the work done ! That robotic voice...
I think it was used in the production phase of the recording and not at the live shows.
Strangely it's not present on the first CD.

Bonjour,
Sorry???
Steve misses high notes on the original Leftoverture album??
Hm, I guess I don't get the point....
Sorry again, no offense.
HJ - who hasn't heard both new albums
OK,
But, how old is Platt??
Even Freddie Mercury didn't try to hit his high notes live. He altered the melodies instead.
And, Mercury was 50 years old only....
If he did get that old.
I mean, Steve Walsh's vocal lines are pretty hard to sing. Not an easy job, anyway.
BTW, I heard an 1:1 copy of COWS lately in a Dusseldorf based hard rock bar. I thought it was the new Kansas
line up but, when I asked I learned it was not. It was somebody else, "Supernatural", the DJ said.
Wow, really excellently sung and played. Who can sing and play like Kansas, if it's not Dream Theater??

No. I either typed it wrong or you read it wrong <wlEmoticon-smile[1].png> Platt misses high notes on the Leftoverture and Beyond Live set.
Yes,
That's true:
http://ultimateclassicrock.com/john-elefante-no-kansas-reunion/
Elefante would have been a great solution, since he's not only a fantastic vocalist and keyboardist but, also a great composer.
Maybe he could have released his solo works nontheless??
What happened after "Drastic Measures"???
Did Kansas tour as a 5 piece??
Were they disappointed by having to play smaller venues, poor record sales??
Did they lose their contract with Kirshner records??
Why did Kerry leave and, formed AD??
I thought John E. is into religion, too. So, what happened??
Just curious
