Greetings PRSA Sailors!

We have Fall Series #4 on Sunday!  We do need one more RC volunteer, but we hope to sail.  As of now, the cranes are operational at WSM.  The restrooms in the dry sail area are locked, but the restrooms up by the store/pizza bar are open.  We will be sure to keep you posted if the WSM operational status changes.  I'll bring some charcoal.  Remember to bring food for the grill and drinks for you and your crew.

Below you will find important reminders for the Fall Series as well as a few reminders for our November AGM.  Please make sure that you are familiar with all of these details.  Fleet Captains: please forward this message to your fleet email lists.

Series Registration and RCplease make sure that you have registered for the Series.  If you're not registered, you will not be scored.  If you register late (or change sail # info, etc.) we can't guarantee that you will be scored correctly.  As you register, please sign up for RC as well.

Crew Connectionif you are a skipper looking for crew or a crew looking for a ride, please remember to post to the PRSA Crew Connection (link on our PRSA homepage).  Post often, since folks don't often read back through older posts.

Radioseven with the removal of the safety zone we we encourage each boat to have a radio on board.  Please monitor 16 for general notices from commercial traffic.  PRSA RC will usually use 68.

Awards Nominationsnow is a good time to start to think about nominating PRSA Sailors for our Perpetual Awards!  The nomination form (with awards descriptions) is available here and will be open through Friday, November 7.

Officer & Supporting Role Nominationslooking ahead to next year, we need some volunteers to fill some roles.  Both Tyler’s term and my term end this fall (without renewal options).  Please consider running for the Commodore and the Vice-Commodore positions!  We need a complete Executive Committee to run our day-to-day operations and, in turn, ensure safe and fun racing.  We will also be looking for a new ExecCom Officer: Communications Director (in charge of outreach, communications, social media, etc.).  Finally, we will need volunteers to serve in the Scorer role as well as Spring Regatta Regatta Chair and President’s Cup Regatta Chair for 2026.

Cheers,
Aaron

Looking at the wind predictions for Sunday (little to nothing until 2pm) I’m wondering if PRO might entertain an amendment to SI to hold competitors meeting and begin racing later in the day and go until 6 or so?
Last Sunday I was PRO and felt awful keeping everyone around for two hours before cancelling for no wind. It never filled that day…but this Sunday it might.
Our fickle winds lately are certainly a challenge.

I agree I’m fine with postponing the start Friday or Saturdayuntil 1 or 2 or 3 PM on Sunday if we have one of those days with no/light wind predicted…

Im not sure people who have made plans in advance would like to scramble to adjust them for this weekend. But it is something to consider for the future

Best,
Tyler

It’s a great idea, but then you’ll need another PRO as I ha ve a prior commitment that evening.

My take on the forecast is that we should have good convection with clear skies so I hope the southerly comes in earlier than predicted.

It would be hard for me to start/end that late.

Starting at 3 would mean ending at 6-7 pm.
