Single Payer Organizing Meeting

I am planning an organizing meeting to bring together people in the community who have expressed an interest in working for Single Payer. I know schedules are tight so I invite you to come to part of the meeting that works for you.

Now that we have a revised New York State Single Payer bill and we see that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will not solve the problems of our health care system we need to renew our efforts around this issue.

A tentative agenda for such a meeting would be as follows and I am certainly open to other ideas and suggestions. If you cannot attend this initial meeting but you are interested in being involved please let me know.

Agenda :

1. Discussion/ Training on State Bill A7860 /S5425 -handout materials

2. Discussion of Petitioning Campaign

3. Story Telling Project

4. Planning End of July Public Meeting with Dr. Peter Mahr from Oregon speaking

5. The Healthcare Movie – a movie about how the Canadian and American systems evolved and turned out -good discussion starter for house parties, church groups, neighborhood groups etc.

If you can't come at 4:30 but can come later please do so and we can do the bill and petition discussion again at the end of the meeting .
