Post Natyam Collective - October 2006 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

This month, there are two festivals going on, which are co-organized by Post Natyam members!  So if you're in Europe, check out ArtsensAsian and the Prague Bollywood Festival.

Sandra is one of the organizers for ArtsensAsian in Munich on October 1.  Sandra and Shyamala will be doing excerpts of Meet the Goddess, and there are many other amazing artist friends of ours including  Kaspar Saxena, D'Lo, Christoph Mukherjee, Kavita Sharma, Roman Chowdhury, Sita Rajasooriya, Bidisha Dutta, Sharon Zachariah, and many more.

Then, October 9-15 is the Prague Bollywood Festival, co-organized by Sangita.  Sandra and Shyamala were lucky to be in Prague during the opening movie.  Imagine a huge outdoor screen on a tiny island in the middle of the Danube River,  an ancient bridge to your back, a castle looming in the distance, and the burbles of the river intermixing with Koi Mil Gaya...  Almost as random as a Bollywood movie and definitely as romantic!

And the final bit of news: Sandra's workshop was so successful that it has been extended into October!  So, since we're busy as bees this month,  do excuse the slightly shorter newsletter below.

Best festival wishes,
Happy Durga Pooja, Sukkot, and Eid

About Open Space Technology and the 'law of two feet'
How many times have you attended a meeting, conference or rehearsal, most likely filled with great and inspiring speakers, only to find that the most interesting conversations take place during the coffee breaks? Open Space Technology takes advantage of this type of interactions and events based on Open Space philosophies have taken place literally thousands of times on all continents with groups ranging in size from 5 to 1000. Participants have come from Fortune 500 companies, third world villages, religious communities, governmental agencies, and whole towns.

Open Space Technology allows all kinds of people to create an exciting open-ended event that enables a self-organising group to use its collective imagination to deal with complex issues and it achieves this in an incredibly short space of time. An Open Space event runs on the fuel of passion, governed by 'the law of two feet' - the rule that if you find you're not learning something new or not in a conversation you can contribute to, you use your two feet and move to somewhere you can participate in.

About Lift and the Lift New Parliament
Lift, London International Festival of Theatre, has a 25-year history of presenting innovative theatre from around the world to London audiences, often in unconventional spaces, and in building relationships across sectors. The Lift New Parliament is a space that will be at the heart of a biennial Lift Festival, with a programme curated by an international team of artists and producers who will be engaged with local communities.

Lift's Open Space forums are Lift New Parliament events, supported by the British Council. The Lift New Parliament is a Lift initiative built in partnership with venues and surrounding communities from across east and south-east London, including Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus, and the South Bank Centre.
