Auditions/Calls for Artists and Writing:
1.
Melbourne, Australia
Call for Writing: Yo! Submit to issue three of WO! Magazine
Deadline 10 September 2006Wo! Magazine is an online Australian feminist magazine.
Wo! is a response and alternative to the gossip, celebrity-focused, does-he-love-me, weight-obsessed drivel that currently fills women's magazines in Australia.
It is an attempt to provide interesting, timely and amusing content that isn't focused on commercial mass culture and giving women hang ups about their bodies and sexuality.
Whilst, obviously being unapologetically feminist Wo! wants to strike a balance between entertaining and arresting. We want to create a good read, a magazine filled with good writing and journalism created by women.
If you have anything you would like to see published in Wo! send to:

NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY
Originated by "South Asian Sisters" on the west coast, the show will be the second of its kind, in the midst of one of the largest concentrations of people in the country who trace their origins to South Asia.
'Yoni Ki Baat' is a theatrical performance that strives to create a safe space for often marginalized South Asian experiences of identity, along different lines of class, race, gender, nationality, religion, sexuality/sexual orientation, immigration, and South Asian diaspora (including Caribbean identity). The pieces will challenge stereotypes and reconstruct the figure of a South Asian woman. The result is an eclectic confrontation of issues from identity, to labor rights, to sexual violence, all critically engaged in the question of what liberation means for people of South Asian descent.
We are currently looking for submissions of literary works to be included in our October 2006 script. Although we have traditionally performed monologues, poetry and dialogue will also be accepted. We welcome any and all submissions; we want everyone's voice to be heard.
The production team of Yoni Ki Baat is currently too small in comparison to the large scale of the actual show. Help and advice is always needed in the areas of back stage production such as, music, props, set design, promotions, funding, etc. If possible, we would love if you could lend us a helping hand in any way.
