I have not seen the movie and so I am not familiar with the circumstances that leads to this song. In this song Vyjyanti Mala teases Raj Kapoor calling him buddha. I suppose that this song , as well as a few other situations in the movie were meant to show disagrrements between the duo that would lead to misunderstanding and as a result marital disharmony culminating into a song like Dost dost na raha pyaar pyaar na raha (Sargam).

Hindi movie songs influence public behavious a great deal. We have read of songs which moved hardened people to tears. And there are songs that inspired people and galvanised them into action. On more personal level, there are songs that may cheer people up or depress them or bring up some other feelings.

When one looks at the age profile of the two actors, one finds that Raj Kapoor was 12 years senior to Vyjyanti Mala, so that does make Raj Kapoor older than her and generation gap between two individuals of such age difference is inevitable. Rajendra Kumar, the third angle of the triangle was seven years older to Vyjyanti Mala, and that way he was closer in age to her.

Those were the days when terms like political correctness etc were not known and people were far less sensitive/ aware about the feelings of others or also about the potential havoc their acts could wreak. Thus we find that people of those era acted in activities like felling trees, killing tigers, using insensitive terms about fellow tuman beings, smoking like chimney etc. All these acts are now illegal and /or undesirable now a days.

Yes you are right. And also there was some rift between her and Rajkapoor in this regard. Lata considers this song as a black mark and had never sing this song in any of her concerts/live performance.

(3) Bollywood movies are made for ENTERTAINMENT and not just for a social cause, so both movies and blogs about movies need to be taken as such and nothing more. This is NOT a social service. If u think there are impressionable minds out there, reading this and getting false perceptions from the song descriptions provided here, I would suggest u to provide some of ur own writings about movies and songs. You can contribute to this blog and that would really be a constructive feedback. I would love to see ur write-ups.

When Mr. Atul is not familiar with the Circumstances that lead to the song, how can he interpret that this song leads to misunderstanding of the couple? That is not at all the case in the film. The song is taken in lighter vein in the movie. Sunder too takes it lightly in the movie. Now please dont ask who this Sunder is. It is supposed to be fun song. People having sense of humour alone could enjoy this song. Even though this is HIS blog, it is public. So, whoever place comments should be careful of the words used. One should pass on the interpretations or comments, after gaining full knowledge. I fully support Maya on this.
