Hellojessie1964,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that your Photosmart 6510 is not printing, and indicating it's in an error state. I would like to try and help you with this.
On the printer is it providing any error messages or numeric codes? What's the error message that you are recieving?
Does this occur with any source you're printing from?
Can you make a copy on the printer?
Please respond back with more information, and I would be happy to help you out.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
I recently had to have Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Power Point, and Excell) reloaded as it refused to open documments from directories (although I could open them by opening the programs first from the Program Directory.
As I understand, your Officejet 8600 will not print from your computer specifically, (it will print from your other PC), and the printer will also make copies successfully. If this is correct, the printer itself is fine, and the concern seems to be with your own computer.
I have some ideas that may help.
Please respond to me with the following. If there are any steps here that you have not tried, please try them before responding and include the results:
How is the printer connected (USB/ wireless/ wired/ Bluetooth)?
What is the Operating System of the computer that will not print?
Have you tried printing from different programs (websites, Notepad, Paint, Word, etc)?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
Run the Print and Scan Doctor and include the results, only if you are running a Windows OS.
Have you completed all Windows/Mac Updates?
Have you tried using a different USB/Ethernet cable?
Thank you
I have a ts3322 and it was working fine yesterday, but today all I try to print it says it is in an error state. I have always connected it to the computer with a cord as my laptop doesn't have a cd drive. I have uninstalled McAfee in case it was the problem. Any help greatly appreciated...
Thank you for your reply. I am using Windows 11. I have turned the printer off and on as well as restarted the computer with AND without the printer connected by cord. The exact wording showing in pop up window in computer is "printer is in an error state". Thank you again for your help.

To try and resolve the error, please turn off the printer, unplug the power cord and leave it out for at least 5 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it back on. If the error continues, so we can better assist you, please let us know what operating system you have on your computer (version of Windows or Mac OS X), as well as if the printer is connected wirelessly or via USB cable.
Called Canon service. Technician led me through various procedures. We isolated problem to a router port issue, not the printer or the laptop. He emailed me information to help solve the issue with the router manufacturer and/or the internet service provider.
I have a new Pixma MG3060 that worked beautifully for a couple of weeks but now refuses to print. It is connected to a Windows 10, 64 bit machine. I have used both wireless and USB connections and behaviour is the same. Stand-alone functions (eg. copy) work fine. The printer dialogue says "Collecting printer status" and a Windows notification says "Printer is in error state". After rebooting both the computer and the printer without success, I re-installed the driver but the condition remained the same. Finally, I reset the printer to factory settings and went through the setup process again. This worked. The printer worked for a couple of days but now has returned to the error state, as before. I have browsed several printer support forums and have seen this sort of problem reported for a variety of Canon printers, and have tried all the suggestions, but still no luck.
Patrick, Thank you for replying. The Error light does not blink. When I reload the software the Test Print paper prints, but while printing any other page it gives "Printer in Error state" Message and "Printer not responding" in Printer window. Please help. Thanks.
You can try restarting the Windows Print Spooler. To do this, open the search feature on your Windows computer and type services and press enter. Once the services window opens, scroll down to until you see Print Spooler. Right click on PRint Spooler and select restart. The print spooler will restart and then you can try to print again.
Hi,
I reinstalled the program and it works better now. Not perfect because I often have to shut off and reopen the printer because it doesn't start printing. I have all the time the message: printer is not responding. Please, help.
Thank you
