Myold WD TV Media Players and the Media Player app on my Roku sticks works great for playing mp4 movie files on OS5 MyCloud Twonky server. But what is best media player on Amazon Fire Stick for playing mp4 files from OS5?

If your OS5 My Cloud supports Plex you may want to install and configure the Plex Media Server app through the My Cloud Dashboard App tab for a better user experience rather than using Twonky. One can then load the Plex client app to the Roku and Fire Sticks to stream their media. One can enable DLNA within Plex if one still needs that feature for certain DLNA network clients.

Otherwise, as the previous poster indicated use your favorite internet search engine and search for Amazon Fire Stick DLNA media players. Various apps out there that can be installed or side loaded to the Fire Stick to stream from Twonky.

Personally, since purchasing the Fire Stick several years ago, I have the ever popular VLC Player installed on a Fire Stick 4K. One can install the VLC Player through the Amazon App Store on the Fire Stick. Works fine for streaming media from a local network DLNA media server. But Plex on the Fire Stick is the main way I stream my local NAS media content.

Any media player that uses the Android's media playback and encryption APIs (such as the MediaCodec, MediaCrypto, and AudioTrack classes) will work on the Amazon Fire TV platform. This documentation outlines media player options for Amazon Fire TV.

Also, note that you can always build your own custom media players using standard Android APIs available in Android. See Fire OS Overview for details on which Fire OS versions support which Android versions.

Amazon has a port of ExoPlayer that is compatible with Fire TV. Instead of integrating the default ExoPlayer into your Fire TV app, use the Amazon port of ExoPlayer. The Amazon port of ExoPlayer provides many fixes, workarounds, and other patches to make ExoPlayer work on Amazon devices.

The standard Android MediaPlayer classes that handle audio and video playback are supported on Fire TV. These media classes can handle basic media playback in your app; however, for more robust media needs, the Amazon port of ExoPlayer (or one of the paid media player options) is recommended.

In this guide, you will find detailed instructions to install MX Player on Fire TV. The installation steps here also work on FireStick 4K Max, FireStick 2nd Generation, FireStick Lite, All-New FireStick 4K Max, All-New FireStick 4K, and more.

MX Player is a media player for Android devices. It can play video and audio files saved on your device or from the internet. However, unlike other media players like VLC, this app is more commonly used in the background. You can integrate it with third-party streaming apps.

Note: The MX Player video player is NOT available on the Amazon Store. In some regions, you may find an app named MX Player on the Amazon Store. However, it is not the same.

Governments and ISPs constantly monitor your online activity, and accessing copyrighted content on your Fire TV Stick could lead to serious trouble. Currently, your IP is visible to everyone. I strongly recommend getting the best FireStick VPN to mask your IP address and securely stream your favorites.

I personally use ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN available. Not only is it easy to install on any device, it comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee. Plus, if you're not 100% satisfied, you can always get a refund. ExpressVPN is currently also offering a whopping 3 extra months free on their annual plan!

Yes! Even though MX Player is not available on the Amazon Store, it is a 100% legal application available on all other major app stores. I also checked its APK on VirusTotal to be careful; the proof is loud and clear.

I have also shown the alternate installation method using the ES File Explorer app later. Even though ES File Explorer is a more versatile tool, it is not recommended as its sideloading feature costs $9.99 monthly.

1. Go to Find > Search from the home screen of your FireStick. Search for Downloader. When you see it in the search suggestions, click it and then follow the onscreen instructions to install it.

7. Now we are back in the Downloader window. It is best to delete the APK file once you have installed the app. The file is no longer required; it will occupy the space unnecessarily on your limited FireStick storage. Select Delete.

Your FireStick / Fire TV is now all ready to stream your favorite content. However, before you start, I would like to warn you that everything you stream online is visible to your ISP and Government. This means, streaming free movies, TV shows, Sports might get you into legal trouble.

Thankfully, there is a foolproof way to keep all your streaming activities hidden from your ISP and the Government. All you need is a good VPN for Fire Stick. A VPN will mask your original IP which is and will help you bypass Online Surveillance, ISP throttling, and content geo-restrictions.

We do not encourage the violation of copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.

if you have already sideloaded MX Player using Downloader, you are not required to follow this method. These additional instructions are for those who do not have Downloader available in their region. Also, you can use these instructions if you prefer ES File Explorer over Downloader.

This is how you install MX Player APK on FireStick using ES File Explorer. If you noticed, the APK file is deleted in the Downloader method. You may want to do the same here. Follow these quick steps:

Hi! I'm Patrick, a seasoned IT and cybersecurity professional. As an avid streamer myself, I started FireStickTricks.com to help others access and stream good content on any platform. When playing music from a playlist via the Amazon Firestick 4K, it stops playing every so often (I have not timed it but seems like 10-15 minutes) and the screen is blank. I can easily restart it, and the music may be another tune which indicates to me that the server did not stop, so I think it's the Firestick. Very frustrating. Previously had a Roku stick and never had this issue. Is this something screwy with the firestick? If so, can it be fixed?

The music just stops after about 20 minutes or so. There's no reason for a "screenshot" as the TV screen is blank. Pressing the "center" button on the fire brings it back to life. I have attached the log files. If you want me to try and send you the actual FIRE log files, let me know. I tried this on my "old" firestick (HD only) using a different TV, and the problem did not occur after 40 minutes, so I don't think it will occur. The TV screen for the old one DID go black after I don't know how long, but the music did not stop. Both fire sticks have the screen saver start time set to "never".

Then I clicked my name on the home screen and clicked "Send Logs". The only option I had was to "Send Logs to Developer" so that's what I did. There was NEVER anything at the top of my home page that said "Send Log".

There will be a delay because now Amazon wants another $4.80 to "unlock" Emby. I DID restart the server after changing my password for security reasons. However, there is no password requirement for the local network. I'll have to figure this out before I can do anything. It was my understanding that the unlock fee is by amazon account, and the same account is used on both firesticks.

I have not figured out how to just hop back into Emby when it stops. If I push the center button, it makes me go through the fire menu to get back into Emby and that may be causing trouble. Any ideas? It takes around 20 minutes for it to stop, BTW.

OK, when it blanks out, it seems no matter what I press on the fire, it takes me to the screen where you select the user. Then I have to go through the fire home and all the way to Emby again to get to the Emby home screen where I can send you the file. I don't know what to do. It seems to me that the Emby app maybe just crashes on this version of the firestick. The time it takes from when I start music playing till it goes away is not consistent. Sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes nearly 30 minutes. I don't know what else to try. I've sent several files, but due to the issue I've stated here, I have low confidence they will tell you anything.

OK, let me try again. When it stops playing, I can push any button on the fire remote (middle button, play/pause, return) and the result is the same. It's the same screen you see when you first wake up the firestick. This kind of seems to me that either Emby is crashing or the firestick itself is crashing. I never see the Emby selection screen. What I see is the firestick profile selection screen as if I just waked up the firestick. After selecting the profile, I get the firestick row of apps and I have to select Emby. I assume this is just restarting the app so your "dump file" is not going to have anything meaningful. I hope this helps. If not, I can send you a video.

I have a Sony Blu-ray player model BDV-E3200 and a Dell Monitor model S2216H. I recently bought an Amazon Firestick and am having trouble figuring out how to hook everything up so it all works with 5.1 audio. Any advice?

A simple coaxial cable is the first thing to try, as long as your bluray player has a coaxial digital audio IN port. This can be basically any 2-conductor cable with RCA connectors on each end, although a dedicated/shielded coaxial cable would be best.

Once the Firestick boots up and completes the HDCP validation (automatically), you should see the Firestick menu on-screen. Now you can navigate to the Audio Settings on the Firestick and make sure that Dolby audio is being output, so your Samsung player can play surround sound audio from the Firestick. The Firestick has a Dolby (auto) setting you should use.
