Greetings from NSS IITD! NSS IIT Delhi and Assistech labs present volunteering opportunity as technical coaches for I-Stem’s Advance Technical Training Program 2019. ABOUT THE I-STEM: Inclusive Stem (I-Stem) is a group of young people in India, who are blind or visually impaired pursuing education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Inspired by the challenges that many of us face as STEM students in India, their goal is to make math and science education more accessible and inclusive in the country. They do this through hands-on activities such as technical training, hackathons, advocacy and outreach initiatives, technical R&D, and by building a strong community. VOLUNTEERING:  I-Stem Advanced Technical Training program is a virtually accelerated and thorough computer science training program for blind or visually impaired students who already have basic programming skills such as basic diploma courses or college computer science classes. The program attempts to prepare candidates for the tech industry and provides various tracks such as software engineering, machine learning, web development etc. Your Role As a volunteer: You will act as a virtual Teaching Assistant to your assigned mentees(3-4 per person) via Piazza and phone calls. You will send weekly/bi-weekly reports about your mentees to I-Stem Group. You will be expected to devote 3-4 hours per week. Prerequisites: You are expected to have good knowledge of one or more of the above-stated topics. If you don't have enough knowledge but are enthusiastic enough to learn as the course progresses.
