Liquid error: private method `gsub' called for nil:NilClass

I was getting this error, and noticed a lot of other sites are also
getting it.

And after playing around with a number of fixes based on a lot of
google searching found i had a problem with the
{ProfileExternalLinks} reference.. so i just removed it and it seemed
to fix the problem.

Dont know what caused this, any ideas?

could you tell me what you did? i know at one point i was having
problems with that but now i don't remember which ones...lot of
problems.
