NextPost / PreviousPost

Looking at the Custom Themes reference, I see NextPage and
PreviousPage, which give you a url for the next and previous pages
when looking at a blog listing page.

I want the same kind of thing, but for the next post and previous
post, when I'm on the page for an individual post.

I can't find that in the reference. Does it exist?

Option 1: Set number of posts to display on front page to 1.

Option 2: Find the paging reference and try applying it to the
individual post view within the markup.

The problem with option 1 is that I share permalinks to my posts, and
I want people to be able to arrive at a permalink and then just start
scanning through my more recent posts by pressing a "next post"
button. Even if I set the number of posts per page to 1, the NextPage
button doesn't appear on individual post pages.

Any more details/ideas on option 2?

In the theming reference it will be under pagination. You can style
it how you want.

I believe the Pagination block only works on post listing pages, and
not on individual post pages. I would also like to figure out how to
display Next and Previous links on individual posts, so please let me
know if you got it working.

You're right, it only works on the post listing page. I'm sure if
enough people petitioned the posterous crew, they would make an
exception or some kind of tweak or even a brand new theme!

I am using MyList by Obox for my site (http://pix.mansibhatia.com) and
would REALLY LIKE if someone could come up with a code or a new theme
that allows for grid-style display of photos (as posts) on pages with
previous and next buttons on individual posts for subscribers to
easily browse through my photography posts.
