Problem Redirecting mail

I have often used the 'Redirect' option to pass on an email that I received in error.

However since this week, whenever I try to 'Redirct' an email I get the following message:

Error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Transaction failed Unauthorised sender address. Please check the message and try again"

I do not get this message if I simply 'Forward' the email...... and composing and sending emails in any other scenario works as one would expect.

Does anyone know what has changed since last week, or am I missing something?

Appreciate any help offered.

I have seen that from time to time. It usually has to do with security restrictions on the server. Many email servers (google, etc.) have restricted this kind of Redirect. I guess the idea is that you're sending an email that isn't really from you. I've found workarounds, but I don't remember how I did it.

Thanks for your response, I only wish I knew a workaround as I use the 'redirect' option quite a lot to pass messages between work colleagues.

Does this apply to all redirects or just from this one sender? Or to this one receiving email host?  Email providers are getting tougher on secure senders, and it may be that the sender's email address is the problem, lacking desirable SPF and DKIM settings. I mention this only as a possibility.

To be honest my knowledge of ISP's is not great, and not sure if I'm reading your response correctly, but this happens on all email accounts I attempt to 'Redirect' with.  However all my email accounts are with the same provider though - Ionos.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

A little detective work may help. The error message refers to the sender. That's either you or the original sender. If you can send safely to that receiver, then the error may relate to the original sender. Does this happen for every redirect, or just from that domain? Some sleuthing may prove helpful.

Thanks for trying to help.

As far as I can ascertain it doesn't seem to matter which email I am trying to 'Redirect', each and everyone gives the same error message.  No problem 'Forwarding' them, just redirecting them.

I am guessing that means that the problem lies with any of my email addresses that are with Ionos.

Just strange that the problem has only started happening since Monday of this week - never had a problem before then..
