Setting up and IMAP Exchange account

Hi

I am having real problems setting up an Exchange IMAP account. It will not verify username, password.

I have shown other mail clients have no problem accessing my Exchange IMAP account: MailMate and Apple Mail did it easily.

I have created a new user profile and tried setting up a PostBox Exchange IMAP account on that - this didn’t work.

I have also shown that PB cannot set up the Exchange IMAP account on a clean install on my laptop.

Not sure what to do next. PostBox would really work for me.

I have set up a paid support query, but to date their replies are slow and not helpful.

I don’t have an exchange server to test with so I can’t help much.  

In general, I would look closely at the configuration that MailMate and Apple mail are using.  In particular, 
- what port are they connecting to,
- how are they doing SSL/TLS encryption
- how they are authenticating

In apple mail, preferences -> accounts -> advanced will show you the port, a checkbox for  “Use SSL”., and a menu for Authentication.  Auth methods include password, NTLM, MD5, and a few others.

There are two methods for doing SSL/TLS.  The first I’ll call wrapped, and postbox calls just “SSL/TLS” - this typically runs on port 993.  The second is STARTTLS and it’s typically on port 143.  

Maybe try thunderbird - postbox is based on that.

Hope this helps, but beyond that I don’t think i can help much.
