Reduce the size of archive files

Hello everyone,

after years of use for professional purposes, I have large archive files on my hard disk even though I have done a lot of cleaning up old messages.

Attached are 2 screenshots of one of my accounts.
My impression is that even if you delete many messages from the mail client, the size of the archive files remains very large.

Can you tell me if these dimensions are consistent with the actual number and size of the emails or if it is possible to have Postbox generate new archive files based on the emails actually present?
All without risking losing messages, I just want to avoid references to useless messages that have been deleted for years.
