How to view list of current calendars?

I'm having a seriously difficult time getting the list of current calendars to show up on the left side of the application.  I've got calendar View -> Calendar -> Mini-month and View -> Calendar -> Calendar list checked but nothing shows up and I can't seem to find a draggable bar anywhere to drag those things back into view.  This is seriously a frustrating problem.  

Thoughts?
